Future milestones, and a look into the passed

Hey guys,
Steve here.

Cooler weather, rain, goalball, computer registry errors…

I suppose I could end the post here… right? Well not really. A blog post that is less than a sentence, in my book, is classified as a twitter or facebook update; both of which I refuse to mess with.
My last week was stressful yet kind of fun at the same time. It was boring and exciting as well. Unlike the last couple posts, I refuse to use the one plane word “good” to describe my week, for it is not true about all 7 days of it.
So, basicly here is how those days went.
Monday was, as you know, a day off of school. Tuesday through Friday were school days. In English class, we began to read Shakespeare. Though I have been at this blogging/writing business, my writing skills remain well below those of Shakespeare. So beyond that, we’re also doing a booklet project in social studies which I am all but finished with. In this we had 5 action pages, where we would describe stuff (we’re covering the American revolution and Brittan’s 13 colonies… just historical stuff like that) so the events would be like the Proclamation of 1763, the tea act, the stamp act, the townshend acts etc etc. You would also have to copy a cause and effect chart, look up 8 key people and what they did in the revolution, and define vocabulary words. I’m on the vocab part and will have that finished tomorrow.
By the way, while on the subject of school, I made all A’s on my report card. the lowest grade was a 90 (I don’t remember what class), and the highest was a 100 in choir class.
Now if you’re wondering about the weekend, here’s how that was.
Saturday was a whole day devoted to goalball. I feel as though I am a broken record when talking of my Saturdays; for they mostly seem to be all about goal ball. There is of course, no problem with that; goal ball is a really good sport, and I do have a tournament coming up on Friday. If I manage to get my mom to video tape or snap pictures of the games, I will create a goalball 2013 page for it.
Now back to the passed, also known as Sunday, that was a day of computer registry cleaning and relaxation and church. In the morning was when me, my sister and Dad went to church, after which I came home to get on my computer as I usually do on days like this. Unfortunately, my machine refused to cooperate–freezes, slow coming on, and even some instances where it wouldn’t come on at all and I was forced to run it in safe mode.
Well yesterday, deciding I’d had enough, I downloaded 3 registry cleaners so I could have a variety. Come to find out I had 2,800 registry errors, as stated by one program that was not quite as friendly with my screen reader (the program that uses speech output to describe what events are occurring or the text being transmitted to my computer screen). The program that wasn’t screen reader friendly was reg cure pro. So, I used c cleaner and AML registry cleaner which both proclaimed that I had 291 errors. I’m not sure what was right.
Well, skipping the rest since I know that non computer orianted people are probably hitting the exit button on there web browser or trying any means of escape from reading my blog, I’ll just tell you the end result. My computer hasn’t froze up since 24 hours ago when I finished the registry cleaning, and it seems to be going a lot faster.

Well that wraps up my last week of life. However, my podcast isn’t posted, but me and my cohost Devin ran into trouble.
I am not exactly sure what type of internet router I have, and you need to forward ports or something on the router in order to connect to multi player games or otherwise connect to someone else’s computer via remote access. Unfortunately, you must know the kind of router and how to forward ports or you’re basicly just out of luck. So, there’s this program called hamachi which overwrites that rule and lets you connect to other computers anyway via secure vpns (vertual private networks). Well this program has been malfunctioning, thus disabling Devin and I to test or play Death Match, the game of the podcast. I’m thinking about doing a different game until we get Death match figured out, so this podcast can be done.
By the way sorry for that confusing rant about computers I did there.

Well, I guess that about wraps up today’s post, so…

P.S. We’re coming onto both the 700th post and the 1000th day! This blog is truely reaching some stunning milestones! Keep reading, and I will definately keep updating.

Blog Update and a couple excuses

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I can’t believe it, the last week of school is here!

As I’m sure you probably know, This post was called updates and excuses. The reason it had excuses in the title, was because for one, I’m not even close to done with stranded, and 2 I didn’t post the podcast.

As far as my new game goes, I am still in the beginning. It has 42 sections so far, but I want it to be a big game. Since I’m not as extremely addicted to swamp, I’ve began working more on it. In fact, You can find a forum newsroom for my game on the audiogames.net forum; the link is below:
go to the stranded newsroom
As you know, my reason for still being at the beginning is still the same:
1. I’ve been addicted to my game.
2. sometimes I think it would be too much work to finish it (but I will finish it anyway).
Now, on to the podcast.

I haven’t quite yet released the podcast to my website. Here’s why:
1. I recorded it, but my computer came unplugged and deleted it.
2. When I went to recover it in audacity (the audio editor I use), It pulled up some weird message and didn’t work.
3. After that I was unmotivated.

Don’t worry, I will re record that and get it on the site
Now, I told you I would record a thunderstorm on saturday, but nature ripped me off and it never stormed!!!

On to the life part

This weekend was a good one. I did however spend pretty much all of saturday waiting for a storm that didn’t come until 10:15 at night, and wasn’t big enough to record. I did however get a 5 minute recording of thunder claps. Comment below the post if you want the recording.
Other than that, my sister’s friend came over saturday night, so I just hung out playing swamp from about 10:30 to 12:300 midnight, after which I went to bed.
Sunday was a computer filled day. I logged on to swamp around 10 or so, and didn’t leave the computer until 1 30. By the way, 30 minutes of that time were spent on stranded. In case you don’t know, I can get a lot done on my gamebooks in 30 minutes, so I bet it will be done on Wednesday or so and I can begin packaging and getting ready for the big release.
Besides the 3 or so hour of playing on the computer, I didn’t do much else. I just briefly hung out with my sister and her friend, and chilled out. The only productive things I did were working on Stranded, doing the dishes and puttin gup my clothes.

As far as today goes, I still look forward to the last day of school. In fact, as of today, there are 3 days until the big day! Today is the last full day of school we’ll be doing work. I’m sure we’ll do some sort of work wednesday and thursday, but those are half days. Tomorrow, is the tiger bash or whatever they call it where you have lots of fun all day.

P.S. I WILL GET THE PODCAST POSTED AND STRANDED WILL BE FINISHED ON TIME! I promice.

updates and previews

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I am back for another blog update. Unlike most other blog updates however, this is more about news and previews and less about life.
Since the life part is short, I’ll get that knocked out first.
This weekend was chill, there wasn’t much to talk about. I have found yet another addicting game from lighttechinteractive.com, called treasure mania. In this game, you are in a gulf, with fish, and chests of treasure. If I said that the game was as easy as sailing your boat over fish and treasure waisting pointless time collecting cheap and pointless points, I would be wrong. To catch a fish, you have to travel over to where the fish noise is coming from, and press the space bar to cast your net out and catch it. Treasure chests are not simple either. no, it has to be all complicated where you have to turn on your metal detecter, and find the loud beep, beep, beep noise and lower the hook and chain, lift it up, then you will get loads of points. It is a real cool game! Oh yeah, when you hit level 5, people from the island that leads to the gulf will get just a bit angry at you and try to shoot errows at your head. You have to press control key on the left side to duck. I’ve been playing non stop this morning.

Here is a preview of my podcast. I forgot to release it yesterday, and will do so today. I also need you to know that this is the last weekly podcast! All the rest of them will be released on the first and 21st of each month to conserve space. Here is how this cast will go.
1. I will give the weather forecast
2. I will talk a bit about life, but you can also read about it in May 24th’s post.
3. The game of the day will be superdeekout. Since it is a long game, I will play level 1. If you want a full review, it will come out this week on the audio game reviews page.
4. I will do a review of my stranded part 2 game.
This is a very full podcast, and will be 20 minutes tops.
It will come out after 2 this afternoon, but before 10 tonight.
I hope you enjoyed this post.
From now on, for convenience to want to be followers, I will put a follow blog button on all posts from now on!

Blognews and update

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I have some important stuff to talk about in today’s post. There is some good news, and bad news.

First, the good news. I am going to be releasing this week’s adition of the steven D Podcast on Sunday (I thought it more reasonable to start the week with a new thing). This podcast will feature a talk about what’s to come on the blog, along with a preview of stranded part 1, the game of the day (bop it in this case), and a short quick update.
So, let me tell you how the podcast will always go.
Introduction, up coming and/or breaking news, game of the day, short blog update snippet, and then closing. SAlso, there will be a form to rate and comment on the podcast. The podcast recordings will be posted on the my podcast page, so check there every week for a new podcast. The podcast will be put in a zip archive so that I can also package them with the show notes file, which will include info concerning the game of the day, along with links mencioned in the podcast and also they might elaborate on the stuff mencioned.

Next, I have pushed the stranded part 2 release further back. Now, I have an actual date, so at least we can be happy about that. My date of release on this game is June 3, 2013 which happens to be a bit less than a month away. I will get the gamebook posted, andlink to it on the site. I can’t wait!

Now, last but not least, let me tell you about my life.
Life has been pretty good the last week. On Monday, me, my mom, and even my sister went to spin class. This was a first because usually on Monday nights my sister is studying for her AP test, but since it was her staar test day this did not occur. On Tuesday, I got caught outside in a little rainstorm In second period. Nothing really interested happened besides that on Tuesday.
Wednesday didn’t have much to offer either. It was quite boring as well.
Yesterday was a rainy warm day. Though it might’ve seemed to me that it would be cold, it was warm. All I can say however is that the weather made me fall asleep shortly after I got home.
Today is Friday. I love it when it is Friday, because I know that all I have to do is make it through one more day of school before the weekend arrives. This weekend I will be going to a Rize adventures (some company for people with disabilities) beginning of summer bash. Since I don’t know how it will turn out, I will blog Saturday night (or talk about it in the podcast on Sunday), and hopefully include pictures.
Other then that, I really don’t have much to say except that I am optimistic about the weekend ahead, and ready for school to be over. As of today, there are 27 days until June 6, the last day of school.

bop it audio recording

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I recently downloaded a bop it game for my computer that you have to press the keys on your keyboard to perform the actions. In this game, I’m doing strong and good, until a tragic accidental press of the mute button causes things to spiral out of control, ending the game. Please listen to find out the score, and I’m sure you will be filled with anticipation of the tragic moment.
This recording is about four megs to download, or of course you could use the player below. It’s only about 2-4 minutes.
here’s the audio player:

Busy Week

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I know the last time I posted to the blog was Monday, but I still have a lot to tell you.

First, we are aproaching the blog’s birthday! In fact, it is this sunday, April 21, 2013. The blog will be turning 2 years old then. On that day, expect an anual report telling you all the stats as of that day. If you want to see all of what I posted this day last year, click here.

Besides that, I know you’ve probably heard about the bombing in Boston. Not only that, there was a massive explosion in texas, about an hour or so from where I live. Though it was far away, there was still a noise that sounded like thunder that followed it, and the noise reached my ears. Since I was sitting right next to a door leading outside, and there wasn’t much noise, I was able to hear it purfectly. Meanwhile, people down south felt something similar to that of an earthquake caused by the explosion, however the explosion triggered a seismograph which reached all the way to the pan handle. The miniture earthquake it caused was a magnitude 2.1.

Finally, I have some more news to tell you about. I am starting to work on stranded part 2, and this one I am going to try and make it possible to play online. If I can do this, I will convert all my games to where you can play in your browser, and ultimately put a backlink to the blog at the end of them. As for the read me files on the games, I will post them as seperate files on the gamebooks page of the website.
As of now, I don’t have a speciffic release date for this game, however it will be some time next month.

Other then that, there’s not much to say. So, thanks for reading!

severe weather day!

Hey you guys,
steve again.

Do you remember my April 3rd journal entry from last year?
If not, click that link to read it.
Last year, there was a massive tornado outbreak not only in texas, but stretching up into the northwest part of the country. This spawned huge tornadoes, one of which causing a tornado emergency to be issued in Dallas county. Mind you, that was last year. This year, we aren’t in on so much action. This April 3rd I’m afraid is cold, rainy, and dreary like what you’d get in February. What is the forecast for today?
Cloudy with showers likely and issolated thunderstorms with highs in the mid 50’s and northeast winds. What was the forecast last year?
Showers and thunderstorms (a near 100% chance), with some possibley being severe, and it was in the 70’s.
What a difference? The only thing that remains the same is that it will rain this April 3rd like it did last year. There will not however be any severe weather today.

Recap back to last April 3rd.
I don’t know how much I said about last April 3rd in the journal entry, but I will tell you about the day anyway.
So, it started off as any normal day would. I went ahead and went to school, the air was kind of heavy and muggy. It wasn’t that dark outside when I went to school, seen as how the storms weren’t supposed to hit until the afternoon. I wasn’t too woried about the weather, because large hail, damaging wind, and heavy rain were the main threats. There was a small chance for perhaps an issolated tornado or 2, but I wasn’t too concerned.
Last year, I had to pass a window only to get to second period and 5th period. When I went to second, it was still bright outside, and I still wasn’t concerned.
When I went to fifth period however, things weren’t looking too bright. As my friend was walking me to choir, I looked curiously at how dark it had become. I just ultimately assumed a thunderstorm was coming.
It wasn’t until we got well into choir that the omonous storms began to move in. Our choir teacher, MS McQueen was having to get on to us because the class was being bad. We were fixing to start writing sentences, and I had just bent my knees to sit down when it happened.

Out of the blue, the tornado sirens began blaring. At first, I wondered if it was the weekly test. “How could that be though? It is Tuesday at like 1:15,” I wondered in my head.
That is when a rumble of thunder crashed outside, and I realised it wasn’t a test. The class got quiet as Ms McQueen went to take a look outside. When she came back in the room, she instructed us to quiet down in case the principal were to say something. I sat there shaking in fear in case it were to tornado.
Though the weather was pretty bad, we were still able to go to 6th period. My friend took me passed the window and I could barely see any light. It was dark, black, and omonous outside.
During 6th period, most of the classes had to sit out in the hallway. Sence I was in a science class, we sat under the table and I cracked jokes with my friends because we were all kind of scared. We had to leave for 7th period a few minutes late, because the storm warning had expired.
I didn’t know this until recently, but the reason we were under the tables in 6th period was due to that tornado emergency. Sixth period is in the 2:00 hour, and the tornado emergency was issued at 2:01 p.m for Mesquite, Dallas, and I can’t remember the other city.
Well, 7th period seemed normal. There was only one omonous sign throughout the period–the fact that so many people were leaving school early.
Here is where the situation gets to a breaking point.
As I sat in my class drumbing my fingers on the desk absent mindedly, the principal comes on the intercom. “All students riding the bus cannot leave school until the weather clears up. These students must remain in their classrooms until the teacher dismisses them,” he says.
That showed me something was going on.
“What?” a kid in my class asked.
“He’s just trying to keep you safe,” replied the teacher.

Sence I don’t like to get through all of the crowds, I leave a couple minutes early. I left that day about 3:19, expecting a thunderstorm to be on the way. When I emerged in the front, I heard hail pinging on the metal roof. It was so dark at this time, it looked like the sun was 2 minutes away from being totally gone.
Soon, the hail stopped. i thought that meant the storms were over, that is until this happened.
My sister came out of her theater class about 3:25, and we emerged into the stormy afternoon. The air was still, heavy, and warm. It wasn’t even raining or anything. It was a sort of serene; calm. There was only 1 or 2 raindrops, and absolutely no wind what so ever. The only thing that was off was that it had got even darker now. Now, it looked like 20 seconds before it got pitch black. This was freeking me out just a bit.
As soon as I climbed into the front seet of my mom’s car, the sirens began wailing. It got even darker to the point where you could just see the smallest bit of light, and the principal came on again. “All students and teachers, leave any exterier…” I shut the door, and my mom started driving before he could finish.
The worsed of it was over after that. That evening, it continued to thunder through about 8:00 PM, but no more tornadic storms came over our area.

I’m afraid that our story has come to a close. I do know that this april 3rd will not be nearly as hectic, but it will be way colder than last.

It’s my birthday!

Hey you guys,
severestormsteve again.

I can’t believe that it’s already that day again–my birthday. This year has been quite a long one, however I can’t believe it’s already over.
There is one flaw about birthdays–they come and go so fast! Well, at least I can be glad that mine is still here today, you think?
So, my party turned out to be a blast this Saturday. We had one of my friends from Goalball practice come home and get ready for the party with us, and me, my dad, and that friend went to pick another one of my friends from his house on the way over there. My goalball friend is named Devon, and the friend we picked up is named Joseph. Both of them are quite small, in sharp contrast to my five foot four inch 128 pound frame.

Anyway, my mom went in a seperate vehicle, bringing Libby along with her. On top of that, my 2 cousins Thomas and Colbie, my nanna, and my other nanna and papa, and someone else from the goalball team named Criston.
At the party, we started off with bowling. Birthday luck or just great skill, I creamed the people at my party in the first game, however tied with someone (I can’t remember) with 122 points. After having a blast bowling, it was time for gocarts. Joseph was so crazy, they had to stop his car early. My dad made me dizzy with his crazy yet fun driving habbits.
That unfortunately lasted a short time, however was real fun. After those gocarts, it was time to play in the archade. I played the wheel of fortune spinner, and only made 40 tickets when I could of won 1000. It was still worth it though. Finally, it was the time to turn in tickets. With my 214 tickets, I baught a bouncey ball along with one of those caps where you turn it inside out, set it down, and it pops into the air as it goes right side out. It is a huge one too, so will probably pop real high. I haven’t tried it by the way.
After going to that blast of a birthday party, we left about 45 minutes after the actual party ended. So, it ended up being a 3 hour party instead of 2 and a half. Well, after dropping my friends off Libby had Criston come over, and we watched pitch purfect. By the way, I got an Iphone 4 (see bottom of the post for complete list of presents), so I played with that while watching the movie.

Now, moving to yesterday. Did all of you people have a good Steve Eve? I hope so. But, I hope you have an even better Steve Day. By the way, that is today in case you forgot.
On steve eve, I was given my sertificate for the National Junior Honor Society, or NJHS for short. I guess that makes it official that I am now part of that organisation!
Last night, I was awake until about 10:15 playing my games, before falling asleep quicker than I thought I would. I did however wake up at 6:00 this morning to my mom getting ready for work, and spent the next hour playing my game and dosing off.
So far today has been good. I had an awesome breakfast, and got confetti poppers and rocket balloons. My vision teacher also brought me some donuts and sossage rolls for a treet at school this morning at school. I also had a filling lunch, and the whole 7th period class sung happy birthday to me at 3:01, the time I was born.
After school, I hung out with my sister, because there wasn’t much else to do. I also played with my phone, and relaxed. On her way home from work, my mom brought me a java chiller, which I drank greatfully before spending the rest of the night relaxing and not doing much of anything.

Well, what a day, and what a weekend. It seems that the last 4 days have been my birthday. Well, it’s sad to say that the excitement is winding down, however we only have 2 more days of school. So, I hope you’ve enjoyed your day, and have a good tomorrow.

Thanks,
type you later,
Steve.

—have you ever heard a frightening message like this before?

Please watch this vid I found browsing around on youtube:

Now, tell me. What do you think this teenager was thinking? I’m sure that if I were him I would be freeking out. Have you ever heard a message like this on a weather radio or otherwise any other commercial outlets?
