podcast and updates

Hello guys,
steve here again.
Before I start the post, I would like to welcome my 6 latest followers! Thanks guys!
I’ve released my podcast today!
As you probably know, I didn’t release my podcast last night. For one, I just got home from tsb, and for 2 the guest (I just planned for him to be in the cast) wasn’t available. So, I posted it today. Another thing, I posted episode 4, the one from june first. I didn’t know I actually had a working version, so I will talk about my latest episode as if it was episode 4, all though it really wasn’t. I hope you enjoy the podcasts!
On another note, here is some stuff I learned at tsb at the space weather class:
1. Did you know that during august 1972, during the apollo space mission, a huge solar storm hit. If those people had been on the moon at the time, they would’ve died of radiation poison.
2. Did you know that we had a solar event Thursday night, and if you were in alaska you would’ve seen the green glow?
3. did you know that light travels at 186000 miles per second which is also 669600000 miles per hour!
4. Did you know that all though the earth spins at 1000 miles per hour at the equator, it spins at 866 miles per hour in austin texas?
5. Did you know that in the event of a solar flair, it can cause a electric blackout on earth’s power grids?
6. Did you know that the surface temperature of the sun is only 6000 degrees, but the core is 14 milion?
7. Did you know that on April 13, 2029, a huge asteroid will come within 33000 miles of earth.
8. Did you know that some of the static noise we here on a shortwave radio is the sun and Jupiter?
9. Did you know that the waves of fm radio go through the ionosphere, and that we can only here them up to 100 miles away?
10. AM radio waves bounce off the ionosphere, and especially at night, we can here them from real far away.
11. Did you know that when the dinosaur killing asteroid sent so much dust into orbit around the earth, that it caused a period of over a year with absolutely no light, stopping all photosynthesis and vegetation growth, also killing half the species on earth back then?
Those are just some of the intresting facts I learned about in the space program.
On another note, if you want to know about Thursday and friday for me, we went to the movies on thursday night, and I sat by Devin and watched the man of steel, Superman.
On friday, the drive home ended up taking over 3.5 hours!
Finally, on a final note, I must tell you all the things we made this week at space weather camp in austin.
1. a paper sundile
2. we took a picture of the sun with sunspots and raised it up so I could feel it.
3. We made a read out chart from the supersid solar antenna, which detected the solar event from Thursday night. I even got to feel the read out!

Well, I hope this post was both intresting, informing, and fun for you to read!

Thanks for reading,
type you later,
steve.
P.S. Don’t forget to check out my friend’s website (I helped him make it over skype and the website setup page of this blog). It’s www.devinsplace.wordpress.com. Thankyou!

updates left out from last night’s post

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I know I posted to the blog yesterday, but I have a couple things to tell you that I forgot to mencion in the last post.
For one, I forgot to tell you guys about my new computer battery. I was reading updates and excuses, and it talked about the computer unplugging and me losing all my work. Well, I forgot to tell you that I got my battery on June 4th. It actually came in on the 3rd, but my mom came up with the idea of putting it on the table so I could find it in the morning. I actually like that idea, (there is nothing like an awesome surprise to get you going). Unfortunately, I never figured it out until the afternoon. I picked up and shook the box in the morning, asked dad what it was and he said it was something for mom, and let my curiosity build all day at school. By the time I got home, it was unbearable. So, I ripped the box open, put the battery in, and found it was charged to 78% already.
Another thing, is that podcast. I am going to go ahead and release it on Friday june 21, the day I come back from austin. Don’t worry, since the computer won’t die when unplugged, I won’t have to be stressed about a disaster happening like it coming unplugged or the battery failing or something. If you want a preview, here it is:

1. I will talk about the weather. In fact, as of now, I myself am intrested to know how the weather will be where I live, seen as how I am in Austin at the moment.
2. I will tell you all about my trip, the whole week!
3. I will then present the game of the day, swamp. Here, I will o a custom map adventure so you know what it sounds like.

One final thing, I will get to be without a sister for 2 weeks! That is pretty awesome, don’t you think? (the question above doesn’t apply to my mom, because she’ll say no).

So, until next time, I hope you had a fun time reading this post! I can’t wait for the podcast, and to post more updates.

Thanks for reading,
type you later,
steve

astonishing monthly wrap up plus life update

Hey guys,
steve again.

May 2013 has been the best month by far for views. In this post, I am going to tell you about that, a true prediction, and some life updates. Please enjoy.

Starting with the blog, I am going to tell you some stats I’ve collected as of this morning at 9:20 AM.
First of all, try and take a guess about how many views there were this month alone. This little 31 day period!

If you guessed it right, you are a real lucky person and should go and try for the lottery. The number of views for this month, was 511! Also, there is an average of 17 views per day this month, by far the highest ever seen on the blog. I also recieved 15 followers since April 21. I think the third year has started with a bang! So, keep viewing and showing your loyalty, and I will certainly keep posting.

Now, here is the prediction that came true. If you click the link below, it will take you to the blog post I made in april predicting a tornado outbreak soon because of the temperature jumps.
post where I discuss my hunch about a tornado outbreak coming, and the next few links lead to tornado news about an outbreak that hit.
Also, the post I just linked to about the prediction was April 15, and the outbreak occured on May 15! What in the world?!
Here are the posts:
post 1
post 2
post 3

There are more posts about that from may 16.

–Life–

On the life note, Things have been running smoothely. On Tuesday night, me and my mom ordered a battery for my personal computer, and while we were on the site we saw an ac adapter for $9.69. I bought the current charger I have for $64, however if we’d just looked on amazon, we could’ve got both the battery and ac adapter for $37.58. I am okay with the charger I have, since it can charge multiple computers and it works fine.
On another note, school is almost out. I remember May 10’s post, blognews and updates or something like that, where I talked about school being 27 days from being over. Now, there are 6 days. Today is the last friday of the whole entire school year, and I bet in 168 hours I will have just gotten up on my first day of Summer vacation. I can’t wait!
Besides that, me, my family, and cat have been doing pretty good. I remember telling you about swamp, the first person shooter I’ve grown addicted to. In fact, the game says I’ve put in over 13 hours and 29 minutes, and I have only had the game for 3 days. Woe… I need to focus more on stranded part 2 then that game. I PROMICE I will work on it this weekend, and like I said before have it on the sight on the 8th. Don’t worry, you will love this game! I will make sure of it!!!

–future life–

I am glad to tell you another thing about the upcoming weekend (besides working on stranded). It is supposed to storm again! I mean large hail, damaging winds, lightning, and heavy rain! So do you know what that means? That means I will hopefully be able to treat you with another storm recording! Also remember that you can visit the natural event recordings page fore a bunch of recordings like the one I want to make tomorrow. It has Wednesday night’s storm, easter storm, plus several tracks I’ve made to sound like awesome storms!

Since I’ve got us going on the future, I must say we won’t be doing a whole bunch of work at school. Monday is the last full school day, Tuesday is an all day tiger bash thing where we’ll get to hang out, socialise, play games and stuff like that. Wednesday we get out at 12:15, and as well as Thursday. Thursday when we get out at 12:15, we have an 80 day (11 week 3 day) break to look forward to. I can’t wait for that!

Well, as a wrap up, I have enjoyed talking to you on this rather long and information filled post. I also would like to thank the 15 new followers this month and late last month, and the people who got the blog 511 views this month alone. You guys enspire me to keep posting and building this site, and me and you visiters worked as a team to get the site as far is it is today–and I’m sure it will keep getting bigger in the future!

Thanks for reading,

Steve.

some more blog news, a last bit of news on the tornadoes from may 15, and a thunderstorm

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I have several things to tell you, as seen in the post title. First of all, tornado news.
I origionally thought there were 16 tornadoes in the may 15 tornado outbreak. Well, at first I thought 10, then 12, then 16, and now the media is officially saying 18. I wonder if that’s the last they’ll say about the tornados, but if it isn’t I will keep updating you.
Second, now that we are in the weather speret, I will give you a recording I made last night, May 29, 2013 at 6:57 PM as a thunderstorm that nearly completely darkend the skies and prodused massive claps of thunder, and at one point in the recording it almost sounds like tiny pieces of hail hitting the window I was near. Listen below or download:
download and listen on your computer

Lastly, some more game news.

I have gotten caried away once again on Stranded part 2, and it is going to be longer then I expected. Thus, I will need 5 extra days to work on it due to school, chores, games, and all that stuff. I will try and take out a lot of the gaming time and focus more on the game; and I will make sure it is long and worth wile.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Blognews and update

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I have some important stuff to talk about in today’s post. There is some good news, and bad news.

First, the good news. I am going to be releasing this week’s adition of the steven D Podcast on Sunday (I thought it more reasonable to start the week with a new thing). This podcast will feature a talk about what’s to come on the blog, along with a preview of stranded part 1, the game of the day (bop it in this case), and a short quick update.
So, let me tell you how the podcast will always go.
Introduction, up coming and/or breaking news, game of the day, short blog update snippet, and then closing. SAlso, there will be a form to rate and comment on the podcast. The podcast recordings will be posted on the my podcast page, so check there every week for a new podcast. The podcast will be put in a zip archive so that I can also package them with the show notes file, which will include info concerning the game of the day, along with links mencioned in the podcast and also they might elaborate on the stuff mencioned.

Next, I have pushed the stranded part 2 release further back. Now, I have an actual date, so at least we can be happy about that. My date of release on this game is June 3, 2013 which happens to be a bit less than a month away. I will get the gamebook posted, andlink to it on the site. I can’t wait!

Now, last but not least, let me tell you about my life.
Life has been pretty good the last week. On Monday, me, my mom, and even my sister went to spin class. This was a first because usually on Monday nights my sister is studying for her AP test, but since it was her staar test day this did not occur. On Tuesday, I got caught outside in a little rainstorm In second period. Nothing really interested happened besides that on Tuesday.
Wednesday didn’t have much to offer either. It was quite boring as well.
Yesterday was a rainy warm day. Though it might’ve seemed to me that it would be cold, it was warm. All I can say however is that the weather made me fall asleep shortly after I got home.
Today is Friday. I love it when it is Friday, because I know that all I have to do is make it through one more day of school before the weekend arrives. This weekend I will be going to a Rize adventures (some company for people with disabilities) beginning of summer bash. Since I don’t know how it will turn out, I will blog Saturday night (or talk about it in the podcast on Sunday), and hopefully include pictures.
Other then that, I really don’t have much to say except that I am optimistic about the weekend ahead, and ready for school to be over. As of today, there are 27 days until June 6, the last day of school.

Thanks for reading,

updates and milestones

Hello you guys,

Steve again.

I have some important updates to tell you about today.
First of all, the number of views on this blog has officially reached, you guessed it, 5000! That is quite a big milestone for the blog! We are half way to the 5 digit numbers! Since it took about 729 days to reach this number of views, I expect that it will take upto 1300 views (I may be wrong, but who cares) to reach 10000. I just want to thank you viewers for getting this blog so far and paying attention to my content.

Another thing is that I will be creating a photos page soon, gathering all the pictures in my blog and adding them to separate categories, similar to the audio page. Also, I will display the latest image right below the name of the category. Please click on this button thingie every morning until it works. I will tell you that it might take until either tomorrow to get it up and running, so please be patient.

Now, I will tell you about my recent days.

On saturday, I went to my friend’s birthday party. It was a horse back riding party, which turned out to be pretty fun! I will have the pictures posted on this post and hopefully the photos page by friday, so check back then.
After the hourse back riding part, we got some ice cream from Derry Queen (I got a hot fudge milkshake), and my friend opened his present that I got him.

After that party, Saturday night just turned into a relaxed chill kind of night. My dad baught me and my sister some freekishly awesome speakers for our phones and book readers, so me and libby watched stormbreaker, an Alex Rider movie on them.

Sunday was a pretty fun day as well. So, there is this relatively new goalball coach that also helps Libby studie for her AP test. She is pretty funny, and me, libby, and her like to tell jokes. Her name is Shena, but Libby calles her Coach because she was trying to teach Libby who is quite an experienced player (and she is pretty new) how to throw. This brought out the name Coach, and though this occured several weeks or months ago, Libby still uses the name. Well, I went with Libby and Coach to study, after which we ate at some Mexican food restaurant and I got chicken fingers. Then, we got some yogert from this yogert place. I ended up getting cake batter yogert with angel food cake on top.

After that, Coach had to take us home, after which the routine returned to normal.
Yesterday was like any old munday, not much to talk about.
So far, today has been pretty good, I guess if you’d call sitting in reading class an awesome experience.

Well, I guess that wraps up this post for today. Once again, expect those photos to be on that page, and the hourse riding photos by Friday or Saturday hopefully.

Blog update, news, shout outs and all that kind of stuff

you guys,
steve again

I am back for, you guessed it, some updates for the blog.

First of all, I would like to give a shout out to my friend Brett, because he has been wanting to be shouted out on the blog for the passed 4 months.

Furthermore, I’ve had a long but good week. Staar testing was this Tuesday and Wednesday (math and reading), and I’m almost sure I passed both tests. Today and monday have been normal school days, and Saturday and Sunday of last week were pretty normal.
In fact, let me tell you about every day since friday. So, this weekend like i said was quite normal. Saturday was nothing but goalball practice, Libby’s friend coming over, and relaxing. Sunday was acleaning day. Monday was test review day at school, and otherwise normal (there was no spin class), but I hope we go tonight. Tuesday and Wednesday were staar testing, then stay at home alone afternoons, while as to the contrast today has been a normal Thursday.
If you’re wondering, I do have a bit of social studies homework supposedly, however I will try to knock it out before the end of school (homework as you know isn’t the funnest thing ever).

Now, on to the gamebook stranded part 2.

I think I’ve found a website host that will let me host my gamebook on its servers. To put that less geeky, I think I found a solution for you to play the gamebook online! If this indeed works, I will convert all the books to playable online, or browser based games.
I haven’t started the developement process of the game yet, but I will shortly. I am beginning to get an idea of the release time–some time in the second half of next month (last post I just said some time next month). If you’re wondering why it is taking so long, it is because I want a high quality fun game for you all that will take a long time to play. For now, you can enjoy my other 2 games, kids prison and stranded part one here.

Another thing, I got another follower this week, shortly after Friday night’s post. So, I just want to welcome you, the new follower to the blog, and thank the older ones for keeping on reading these entries, and viewing the site. Also, you know how Sunday I declaired that I had 4902 viewers, the total now exceeds 4950. Thanks for viewing!

Thanks for reading,

Happy 2nd birthday to the blog!

Hey you guys,
Steve again

Can you believe it? Two whole years of this blog have come and gone just like that! Makes you wonder how fast the next several years to come will pass. Huh?

Well, I have as usual to tell you an anual report. If you would like to compare last year’s to this one, click here to view last year’s anual report, along with a few ore posts.

Well, this year’s report is as follows.

  • 4902 views total
  • 654 blog posts
  • 20 pages
  • 22 blog categories
  • 953 search tags

This website has undergone some major changes. If you’ve been in touch with the news page, you know that the site got a real domain (at this time last year, the site was sssjournal.wordpress.com), and that I was also able to get a site upgrade for audio. Another thing, I quit the how my day went posts, since I thought they were quite repetitive and you guys didn’t enjoy them as much. To proove my theory, the day I announced I was quitting them I received 3 followers.
Like I said last year, I amsstill getting posative feedback from you readers. Just remember, keep reading, and I’ll keep posting!

Thanks for reading,
type you later,
steve.

p.s
the blog’s birthday also happens to be on one of my best friend’s birthday! So, wish them both a happy birthday, and have a wonderful day!

updates

Hey you guys,

Steve here.

I had quite a good weekend. My goalball coach said I did really good. Also, I finally got that game put up, so I hope that you will enjoy it.

On the other hand, I wasn’t ready to face the challenge of school today. You know, weekends just fly by way too fast. It is like you are going home from school on Friday, only to blink your eyes and be back again. One thing to look forward to however is the prospect of being on spring break next week. That is the only sperit lifter I can think of at the moment, it being Monday and all.

On the weather forecast however, there is going to be a very warm today. It is supposed to reach 85 digrees, something I haven’t experienced in so long, I don’t even know the date that last happened. To top that off, it will be 57 tomorrow afternoon. It is warmer than that right now at about 9:30 in the morning!
Also, last Monday there was freezing cold windy weather, with highs in the upper 40’s. Think back to 168 hours ago, how cold it was. Amarillo was being pounded with heavy snow, and we were getting a couple flurries. Take that back, perhaps it was about 162 hours ago, since the cold came in the afternoon. Now, we are in the 80’s, how is that?

back to my life, I am addicted to two new games. I will give you the links to download them at the app store at the bottom of this post. One is called accessible minesweeper, sited people can play too, and the other is called tap the mole. Tap the mole is also accessible for blind people, yet again sited players can play this one as well.
Since I couldn’t go out and do much yesterday, I was able to buy and play these games. I’m thinking about going over to apple vis, a website for aps and stuff for blind people using mac computers and IOS devices, and searching for more games.

To wrap up this post, I think today will be a good day, and that the coming week will be pretty good as well. Also, just in case you didn’t know, I have alergies again, however I don’t think that will stop me from having a good week.
I hope you had a good weekend, and have a good week as well.
Thanks for reading,
type you later,
Steve.

P.S. links to the games in the app store.

Have a nice day!

it’s Friday!

Hey Guys,
Steve Here.

It’s finally Friday!
Or should I say,
“It’s already Friday?”

It’s Friday! The pressure releaf is on!
No omore stress, the weekend, no more homework, and THE WEEKEND!!!
Well, I’ve had a pretty good school week. I had a lot of math textbook homework, not a lot of questions, just a lot of books. I also had tech homework, but I’ve finished that as well. I feel like the world has just been lifted off my shoulders and that I am free. The weekend is coming up, which means it is almost time for goalball! I can’t wait for goalball!

Also, did you know it is the start of March? March means:
1. spring is coming
2. easter is coming
3. my birthday is coming.

Also, I’ve came up with a new name for March. It is:
Steven D awareness Month.
This has officially started.

Otherwise, let me tell you about my week sence there was only 1 post this week.
Well, to tell you the truth, nothing much has happened. I’m still doing good, my family is doing good, and so is my cat.

Wanting to hear about my game?

That is going good as well. I didn’t work on it yesterday, but I promice it will be finished by Sunday night. That is 2 days, so I should finish it by then. When I do it will be put up.

Thanks for reading,
Steve.

p.s.
Have a great eppic awesome weekend!!!!!
