My Last Week of Freedom

Hey you guys,
Steve here.
I’ve had a good last week of summer. I just pretty much got to hang out while my mom and sister did all the back to school shopping Monday and Wednesday, the 3 of us and my of&m (orientation and mobility) teacher went over my new school schedule, and me and my dad went on a bike ride yesterday and today. We completed the 9.23 mile ride in 35 minutes and 13 seconds yesterday, and 35 minutes and 1 seconds today. I don’t know about our average speed for yesterday, but it was 15.9 miles per hour today.
If you’re wondering what I’m going to do the next 2 days, I can’t tell you. Probably the same thing I’ve been doing… hanging out and messing around the computer.
Speaking of computer, I’ve done some awesome things to the site, and also found a new game to be addicted to. I’ll first start with the site change.
Instead of having a links widget on my side bar, I now have a “My Favorite Sites” page. If you go there, you will see my links organized into the following categories:
games
friends’ websites
audio and podcasts
other useful stuff
development tools
sites that caught my unseeing eye(misc).
Now I bet you’re wondering, “What game could he possible be addicted to now?”
I’ve got an answer to that. There’s this online; multiplayer game room with the following card and board games/features:

  • 1000 miles
  • Uno
  • dominoes
  • connect 4
  • La Scopa
  • Jass
  • chess
  • monopoly
  • Poker Texas Holdem
  • Bouillabaisse
  • Rummy
  • Battleship
  • Reversi
  • Yahtzee
  • The Little Exam
  • Farkle
  • six picks
  • black jack
  • spades
  • and, the ability to create free chat tables
  • pretty much fully customizable
  • you can chat any ware

I think you should check it out.
Well, I guess that’s about it for this post. See the bottom of it to see my school schedule.
Thanks for reading,
type you later,
Steve.
school schedule:
1. choir
2. math
3. pre-ap social studies
4. pre-ap English
5. Spanish–yep, the two language classes are right next to each other.
6. Orchestra–yep, I’ll have a lot of concerts this year…
7. Science–I have a good teacher (It’s better to have classes your big sister has been already).

astonishing monthly wrap up plus life update

Hey guys,
steve again.

May 2013 has been the best month by far for views. In this post, I am going to tell you about that, a true prediction, and some life updates. Please enjoy.

Starting with the blog, I am going to tell you some stats I’ve collected as of this morning at 9:20 AM.
First of all, try and take a guess about how many views there were this month alone. This little 31 day period!

If you guessed it right, you are a real lucky person and should go and try for the lottery. The number of views for this month, was 511! Also, there is an average of 17 views per day this month, by far the highest ever seen on the blog. I also recieved 15 followers since April 21. I think the third year has started with a bang! So, keep viewing and showing your loyalty, and I will certainly keep posting.

Now, here is the prediction that came true. If you click the link below, it will take you to the blog post I made in april predicting a tornado outbreak soon because of the temperature jumps.
post where I discuss my hunch about a tornado outbreak coming, and the next few links lead to tornado news about an outbreak that hit.
Also, the post I just linked to about the prediction was April 15, and the outbreak occured on May 15! What in the world?!
Here are the posts:

post 2
post 3

There are more posts about that from may 16.

–Life–

On the life note, Things have been running smoothely. On Tuesday night, me and my mom ordered a battery for my personal computer, and while we were on the site we saw an ac adapter for $9.69. I bought the current charger I have for $64, however if we’d just looked on amazon, we could’ve got both the battery and ac adapter for $37.58. I am okay with the charger I have, since it can charge multiple computers and it works fine.
On another note, school is almost out. I remember May 10’s post, blognews and updates or something like that, where I talked about school being 27 days from being over. Now, there are 6 days. Today is the last friday of the whole entire school year, and I bet in 168 hours I will have just gotten up on my first day of Summer vacation. I can’t wait!
Besides that, me, my family, and cat have been doing pretty good. I remember telling you about swamp, the first person shooter I’ve grown addicted to. In fact, the game says I’ve put in over 13 hours and 29 minutes, and I have only had the game for 3 days. Woe… I need to focus more on stranded part 2 then that game. I PROMICE I will work on it this weekend, and like I said before have it on the sight on the 8th. Don’t worry, you will love this game! I will make sure of it!!!

–future life–

I am glad to tell you another thing about the upcoming weekend (besides working on stranded). It is supposed to storm again! I mean large hail, damaging winds, lightning, and heavy rain! So do you know what that means? That means I will hopefully be able to treat you with another storm recording! Also remember that you can visit the natural event recordings page fore a bunch of recordings like the one I want to make tomorrow. It has Wednesday night’s storm, easter storm, plus several tracks I’ve made to sound like awesome storms!

Since I’ve got us going on the future, I must say we won’t be doing a whole bunch of work at school. Monday is the last full school day, Tuesday is an all day tiger bash thing where we’ll get to hang out, socialise, play games and stuff like that. Wednesday we get out at 12:15, and as well as Thursday. Thursday when we get out at 12:15, we have an 80 day (11 week 3 day) break to look forward to. I can’t wait for that!

Well, as a wrap up, I have enjoyed talking to you on this rather long and information filled post. I also would like to thank the 15 new followers this month and late last month, and the people who got the blog 511 views this month alone. You guys enspire me to keep posting and building this site, and me and you visiters worked as a team to get the site as far is it is today–and I’m sure it will keep getting bigger in the future!

Thanks for reading,
Type you later,
Steve.

Tornado outbreak news from last week, blog update, probably the biggest post ever posted on this blog!

Hey you guys,
Stevers geevers here on this Friday night.

For the first part of this post, I’m gonna tell you about some new information about May 15, 2013 tornado outbreak that I learned. Then, I will tell you about the Oklahoma tornado outbreak, followed by my life and what happened to our weather on Tuesday.

  • There were actually 16 tornadoes
  • it was grandbarie and not grand prairie hit (I get the cities mixed up)
  • it is official that 6 people died

Oh yeah, speaking of tornadoes, there was an outbreak in Oklahoma. Here is what I learned.

  • there were 24 dead and 10 were children in the Moore tornado
  • the tornado was an ef 5 that stayed on the ground for 40 minutes
  • On sunday, there was a tornado that hit while the sun was out!

Now that we have that out of the way, let me tell you about my life.
The early part of the week was the part of the week with the most excitement. Monday, was the orchestra consert. It last 2 hours, so we didn’t get home until about 9:30. Also, there were no tornadoes on Monday where I live, because of a cap in place. A town called Blanket was hit just before 6:00 that night. The next day I spent half of feeling strong anticipation of dangerous weather. I woke up and listened to the weather radio, hering this hazardous weather outlook:

scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected across north texas today and tonight. Large hail, damaging wind, and cloud to ground lightning are the main threats.
The tornado threat will increase as the day goes on with strong long track tornadoes a possibility.

I was pretty nervous after hearing that and deciding I couldn’t sleep, went downstairs. After getting downstairs, I sat in amazement as my cat ran meowing after a huge bug (I can’t see, but could hear loud deep buzzing 2 feet from me and meows and scuffling cat feet). The chase went on from about 6:35 a.m to exactly 6:42 AM, when Bell, the bug killing cat pounced. There was one final buzz from the nasty thing, before it was knocked into the wall and bell ran into the living room.
Later that day, I found out that bug was a wasp. Lucky thing I didn’t go into the kitchen to get a drink or get my cat. It is also lucky that the wasp, once landing a foot from me, didn’t notice my fingers typing on my computer or my occasional shifts and stretches, or I was bound to get stung in the foot, face, or arms. Also, I touched it while the legs were barely moving, and put my foot on it around that same time. And, the stinger was pointing up, so I’m surprised I didn’t hit that when I felt it.
As a last note about the bug, I got a good feel of it after my mom told me it was harmless. This was only the second time I’ve ever touched one of these full on that it didn’t sting me. The first time I was 6 or 7. The stinger was stiff, and bent forward, as if it were ready to hurt somebody before it died. The stinger was about 1 and 1/2 inches. The rest of the wasp itself was pretty big, the legs folded into its body; facing up and laying on its back. Not to mencion, last week I touched a nest that my dad knocked down. What wasp related object will I touch next week?

Now, moving on, let’s talk about the rest of my scary but good day.
After the bug attack and breakfast, I got ready, went to school, and spent a good portion of the day scared out of the mind. Honestly, why did there have to be 2 tornado drills on the morning of a potentially tornadic day? I was already scared and when we had the drills, it made me a little more edgey.
It actually ended up, we didn’t get tornadoes. Just before the end of math when storms began moving in, I learned that we dodged the tornado threat. All we got that afternoon was severe flash flooding and heavy wind, resulting in me not leaving school until 4. I got to hang out with friends in 7th period for 35 minutes after finishing my work, and that was pretty cool. Also, I told the forecast to let people know there was no more tornado threat, and got the whole class scilent with my forecast, followed by a class wide applause at my freakishly awesome forecasting skill. Turns out, I was right on! Nothing but heavy rain.
There was one point when the street lights came on however, and that’s when the class freeked out. I, knowing the weather situation fully and completely, was one of the 5 people not freeking out. The only thing I was worried about at that minute was my computer dieing, because my charger was tangled up with 3 other cords and I was quickly trying to untangle them.
After the storm excitement ended and I was home, the day went normally.
Wednesday, Thursday, and today weren’t too exciting. Wednesday, I did attend a dessert party after school in 7th period. What the heck, 2 days in a row where I’ve spent quality time with good ol’ miss Seltzer.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Also, I have to welcome our latest follower, who sent the totle up to 56!
And, I have received over 100 views in the passed 7 days; keep viewing, and I’ll keep posting!

updates

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I hope you are ready to read for a long time. I have quite a bit to tell you on this post, since I haven’t posted since April 3rd.

So, I’ll start with weather.

In the passed few days, there has been storms. I didn’t get to record them however, since I was at school. There is a pretty significant chance that we’ll get pounded again this Thursday morning, so maybe I’ll be able to record it. Other than that, it’s supposed to get up to 90 degrees today. That is extremely hot for the month of april in my opinion; it was in the 30’s last Wednesday and will be 60 degrees by Thursday.
Now that I think about it, I’m starting to develope a hunch that a big tornado outbreak is coming soon. With all this wind, mad temperature swings, storms, and heat, it just seems likely that either a huge severe thunderstorm outbreak will occur, or perhaps a large tornado outbreak might occur in the next couple months. As you should know, tornadoes or tornadic thunderstorms form from cold dry air clashing with hot humid air. You could expect something like this especially if a cold front or dryline passes through during the afternoon/early evening hours, when daytime heating exists. That is why we need to watch out, and keep our fingers crossed should a tornado outbreak occur.

Now that I have the weather thing knocked out, I should probably tell you what’s been going on with me lately.

The first week of April wasn’t very exciting. Besides severe weather day, nothing much really happened. The second week of april was more exciting though.
On monday of that week, I did my normal routine, along with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Friday was the day that I missed school, so my o&m which means orientation and mobility teacher took me, my sister, and our friend out on a fieldtrip to the Galloria (I don’t know how to spell it, but whatever). There, I got a couple massages from Brookstone, explored some store that I don’t know how to spell the name of, ate at Rasing Canes, got lots of candy at Candyland, and in total spending about $13.35. After that trip, I had to return to school, but only for about an hour.
After the school day ended, I went streight home, and got ready for Transition Weekend, a fun weekend for the blind and visually impaired.
Me and my sister were both going to this weekend long camp, while my mom and dad were just taking us there. So, we left about 4:30, and arrived at the bus which would take us to the camp around 5 or so.

The camp was in Cedar Hill, which was a 45 minute bus ride.
As we drove there I wondered how the weekend would go. I wondered what activities there would be, what time we would go to bed and get up, what food we’d eat, when we would leave, and if it would be fun.

As it turns out, I didn’t have any reason to worry. The weekend was a blast! After getting there, we unpacked, settled in, and ate pizza for dinner. The slices were litterally about a foot long, and the base was about 7 inches wide. I ended up having two slices (sorry if I am making you hungry), and those filled me up pretty good. After dinner, we got to know each other, and had an opening thing where we did activites and stuff.
After that, we cooked these brownies. They were oranges that we scooped the pulp out of and replaced it with brownie mix. I didn’t eat one, because they were all eaten when I was in the shower.
I did get a regular brownie however, which turned out to be pretty good.

We went to bed at 11:00 that night, and got up at 6:30 the next morning. After getting ready for the day on saturday, then eating a good breakfast, we did more activites (but these were outside). They were just more activites to get to know and bond with each other. After that, we did some low rope activites, which was working on team work. Then, we had lunch. After lunch was the fun stuff. We had about an hour of down time, before it was time for rock climbing and zipline. I only got 4 feet up the rockwall, but did the zipline completely. My least favorite part of the zipline was standing on that 50 foot platform. If you don’t know this, I am extremely afraid of heights.

It wasn’t that bad when I actually zipped down the line. In fact, it was real fun. The only bad thing about it was that I couldn’t go again.

After that zipline experience, we ate dinner, had more down time, then went to the camp fire. There, we just sang, talked about the day, and socialised. After that comes the funny part.
So, when we got back to the cabbin, the counsiler took us boys into our bunk wing.
This guy was a real jokester, and actually made us think we were getting in trouble. It actually turns out, he just wanted to tell us how good we did, and I was deep relieved.

After that, there was a store thing that people could use face money to buy awesome stuff. I got a deck of playing cards, and a pack of gram crackers. After that however, I headed out to the porch, where a silly string war was taking place.
“Can I try?” I asked one of the boys.
He handed me the bottle, which was broken. So, I had to ask the counsiler who talked to us earlier to fix it for me. He fixed it, but instead of returning it to me sprayed me. He got me in the mouth, the nose, and the chest. He also got my head when I ducked down.

After that fun experience, I went and took a shower, and fell asleep after a long but fun day.

Yesterday was the day it all ended. After eating breakfast, there was a closing saramony. That consisted of crying, talking, laughing. After that, it was time to go home. I went home with my dad, but he took me and libby to nanna’s. There we ate lunch, played cards, and returned to our home. There, I got on my home computer (I fixed it and got it to work). After that, I had my dinner, and things returned to normal.
Now, I’m at school, and nothing much is happening. It is Monday, so tonight me and mom will be going to spin class once more. I can’t wait!

Well, I guess that concludes today’s post. I will post again soon!

end of week update

Hey you guys,
Severe Storm Steve again.

There are several things I want to tell you:

  • weather
  • good news
  • how my week went

So, let’s start with the good news.
In my tech class, my grades have been getting better as the year has been going. My main goal however, was to reach 100% on my tech site presentation. Finally, I actually achieved that goal today, after my presentation. I thought I was going to make an 80, but I actually made a 100!

Now, let me tell you about my week.
Overall, it was a pretty good week. It lasted a very long time, however I am glad to tell you that there are a little bit less than 3 hours before the start of spring break. Since I ride the bus, it will start at 3:45 for me, and it is 11:50 right now. I can’t wait for the break!

Weatherwise, there is going to be some storms tomorrow night. There is an 80% chance of the rain!!!

Well, I hope you enjoyed this post. Though this was brief, don’t worry I will post again soon. For now, enjoy what you’ve got.

Thanks for reading,
steve.

my last 2 weaks

Hey you guys,
severestormsteve again. You know how I promiced to tell you about the last 2 weaks?? Well, I stuck to my word! Below, you will read about what went on in my life during my absence.

Weak 1: this was a busy weak. I had to stay at home alone that Wednesday and Saturday, but starting on the first Sunday that I stopped blogging, I went to Austin again. You know how that normal regiment goes; school, activities on the dorm, story time, fun etc. After Austin however, Friday was a hectic day. Me and my dad drove home only to pack once again, and less than 1 hour after arriving home I was at church for my friend’s Dnow Weakend, which turned out to be a total blast. That night, we ate pizza, played a game, and then watched a funny rools video. Then, we finished it off with a worship service and then going back to my friend’s house for small group talk, and then a half-hour long 14 airplain war that was really fun. There were 6 7th grade boys, you never know what to expect when something like that happens. Well, Saturday was fun as well. We had another worship in the morning, a mission project, then a digital scavenger hunt. Really, it was fun though I am blind :). We had to take pictures of things on a list to earn points, and see who would win. My group got 3rd place. After that, we had dinner, and another game and then worship. Finally, it was small groups, socialising and chill time, then bed. Sunday was the final day. We had breakfast, followed by the Sunday morning service. Then, my mom picked me up, thus ending my busy weak.

My sister had been at a goalball torniment, so we had to pick her up that night. Ultimately I didn’t get to bed until 12:15 that night. Luckily, with a good cup of coffee, I was able to stay awake on Monday.

Last weak wasn’t too exciting. It was the quick fall back into my usual routine, going to school daily trying to make those good grades, and doing chores and regular things at home. So far, this weak has been the same. Despite waking up early this morning to a headache that caused me 2 bouts of dry heaving and 1 bout of puking, I was normal again. It was another average school day however.

So, It looks like we will get rained on again tomorrow and Thursday, so get your umbrellas out and put them in good use!

how my day went

Today, I got up and went to school like normal. Then, I came home and relaxed and played with the cat before going with my dad to pick Libby up from school, coming home, and relaxing on the couch until dinner, ate, then worked on my project before doing the kitchen, and then posting the journal. That is all I did today.

how my day went

Today, I got up and did the same things as yesterday morning (shower, get ready, then go to school), before coming back to the dorm and going to the weight room with the same 2 friends and counciler because we didn’t want to go swimming and really enjoyed the weight room. After that, we came back and had some dinner, then had freetime. Then, I posted my blog. That is all I did today.

how my day went

Today, I got up and went on a 4.39 mile walk with my parents. Then, I came home, finished packing, then did the 4-hour drive to Austin with both my parents and sister because me and my sister were both going for this camp. When we got there, we did the usual–unpacking, health center and registration and all that jibber jabber. Then, I just hung out with my sister and the staff (we got a new fun dorm staff), before me, my sister, and one of the dorm staff went and picked up all but 1 of the rest of the kids from the bus stop. Then, we came back with them, ate dinner, then had free time–I hung out with the people I knew and got to know the 2 people I didn’t. Then, I got on the blog. That is all I did today.

how my day went

Today, I got up at a normal time even though my mom had work because my dad was gonna have hand sergery and wasn’t going to work today. So, I went to school, came home, and played on the computer for a while. Then, I relaxed in my bed before eating dinner, hanging out with my sister while she played violin, and then posting my journal. That is all I did today.
