gaming and podcast updates

Hey guys,
Steve here.
Alright, I have to admit something. I’ve been slacking off, quite majorly, especially in the pod cast department. I had a very good chance to record the Road To Rage Episode last week, as a quite horiffic battle took place between my friend and I and two other players, who not only seamed to have an unlimited supply of health, but also some wickedly awesome guns, some of which were capable of putting someone down in 3 quick shots. All of that resulted in a 15 minute streak of epicly loud gun fire, frustrated screams of agony over the chat system, and people dieing left and right. Although my ratio of kills to deaths was something along the lines of 2 to 6, I still had quite a good time and wish I’d recorded it. I suppose one of the main reasons I didn’t record it was that I was on a time crunch, and it can take a good minute after a podcast is recorded before I can officially say it’s online, and also that was on Wednesday, not Sunday.
But anyways, I’ll be sure to definitely record it this time, even if it means recording it before Sunday and waiting until then to post it. Either way, expect podcast Episode 25 this Sunday, and I promise, for real this time, not to let you down.
Besides slacking off the pod casts, I’ve done quite a bit of swamping over the past two weeks. I haven’t updated you guys on my swamp progress in a while, so I suppose I’ll do that now
-I’m level 84 now. If I’d become level 84 in a previous version of the game, such as 3.1 or below, I could’ve become a hard core character, something I’ve been wanting to try out. But no, I have to get to level 150… so I still have quite a few more levels to go. On the bright side, I’m over half way!
-Since Christmas day, I’ve spent 1 week, 1 day, and about 2 hours, playing the game. All that, plus the time I played on my old computer, and I’m still not even level 100 yet?
-I have some pretty nifty armor at the moment. I’m still able to move fast, but get >70% protection.
Also, I have a long bow, and a very powerful machine gun, so I shouldn’t be dieing any time soon. I suppose that’s something to be excited about.
Anyway, off the topic of gaming, my last couple weeks have been more or less uneventful, besides school, doing a bit of technical work with my friend’s website, and as previously mentioned, playing games. Very early this morning, I managed to catch a rather epic storm recording, the result of a pretty good hail storm that came through, dumping a whole bunch of what appears to be nickle to quarter sized hail. (yeah, leave it up to Severe Storm Steve to get up at 4:00 in the morning to record a thunderstorm). Anyhow, here’s the recording:
download and listen on your pc
or here’s the imbedded player:

To me, that sounds a lot like the ice storm I recorded back in December of last year.
Moving on to the future, I have a choir concert next week. Apparently we have to wear a tuxedo, and I still don’t have one. I really need to get on that though, because I’m not going to get a poor grade because I wasn’t in propper clothes.. Also, report cards are coming out this week. I feel confident that I’ve passed all my classes–last time I checked, I had a 92 in algebra, a 98 in business information management, and I don’t know what the exact grade is, but I’m passing English. As for History and Spanish, I really have no reason to be failing those classes, so I’m pretty sure I’m passing them.
Well, it’s kind of late, so I should be getting in bed right about now. I hope you enjoyed this post, and I look forward to writing another. Also, stay in tune for the podcast next Sunday.
Thanks for reading,
Type you later,
Steve.

A mid week update

Hey guys,
Steve here.
Well spring break is over, along with two days of our first week back to school. Isn’t it amazing how time can fly by so fast? I mean even when posting the Monday’s musings post… I was amazed–it’s already been 15 weeks of Monday’s musings? And yet it seems like Monday’s Musings 6 was written last Friday. Well not really, considering Monday’s musings posts are written only on Mondays, but you get my point anyway.
For you storm recording fans, I have some good news for you. On March 15, we got a pretty big storm, and I was able to record it not only in stereo, but from an out-of-the-window vantage point. Yes, you will hear wind hitting the microphone, but that can serve as more proof I recorded it vertually outdoors. And if you hear some talking, and you will, it’s because I was at my church friend’s house at the time of the recording.
Aside from storm recording, my spring break was one of relaxation, and forgetting school all together; acting like it didn’t exist, and waiting until Sunday to do violin practice, because after all that is an aspect of school, that I believed I didn’t need to worry about over the break. After posting that blog post last Tuesday, I had two of the same days–spending my time being lazy and playing on the computer. On Friday, however, my mom, sister, and I fed the ducks at white rock lake. And now that I think back to it, didn’t we do the same thing on the Friday of spring break last year? It’s even written in a blog post from around that time.
After feeding the ducks Friday, we went to a palio bakery, and tried some of their desserts. I got to try a cookie, and a cupcake, both made with absolutely no milk. Now how weird is that? Even weirder, the things tasted good!
After our day out, we came home, and I programmed, and skyped danny; nothing productive for the rest of the night.
On Saturday, we had goal ball practice, and then we went to my church friend Oscar’s house to spend the day. We went because I guess my mom and dad planned to spend the day with them, but didn’t tell me about it until Saturday morning, so once again I didn’t tell you guys in advance.
So basically, after goalball, I ran home, made sure I had my recorder and stereo microphone, and weather radio, and we were off. So, that night when we were still over there, the storms hit, and I was able to get that great recording. But due to noise and microphone positioning, it took me like 5 attempts before I finally got the perfect recording. Welcome to the world of audio production. *sighs*
Later on that night, we had ice cream… or should I say everyone but me had ice cream. I accidentally fell asleep around 10:10 or so, and they had ice cream right after that. (lololol) I don’t know how I always fall asleep at parties and get togethers like that right before they have dessert.
Skipping ahead to Sunday, it started off with church as usual, and the rest of it was spent getting ready for school, and on the computer. And as for yesterday and Today, I had school, and was on the computer in the evenings. (well I guess we’re officially back into the routine).
In other news, Trash is nearing completion. I am already working on the winning procedure–and when that’s complete, I can put up an early beta, but sadly you guys won’t be able to play it because I need my friends to check for bugs before I toss it out to you guys. But hey, even if it takes long, at least I’m trying to make it as bug free and enjoyable as possible before giving it to you guys.
Speaking of software, Mason and I stopped colaboration on Ultrapad, because we wanted to release it on our own and do different things on it. Besides, there was some stuff in there I wanted to take out, and replace with different stuff… so it’s for the best. Anyway I think I got the bug fixed–and if that’s true, you’ll know by the nice little link posted on the software page. Also, when I release that, the software page will be renamed to sQuad software, so be on the look out for that in the next few days. (yes, in other words, check back often:).
Aside from all that, My birthday is only 8 days away! So in exactly a week from now, that’s right, it’ll be Steve eve! I decided not to have a birthday party, however I will be eating stake n shake for my birthday dinner. MMM there shakes and chicken tenders are so freaking good!
As for what I’m wanting for my birthday, there are two things–one of which I must see if it exists. I want swamp, and a talking rain gage. Or at least a braille one anyway. I’m not complaining here, but it is a matter of fact that there just isn’t a whole lot in the way of accessible technology out there, thus is the reason I’m having to make sure if such a thing as a talking rain gage exists.
Changing topic, Spring is just around the corner, which also means tornado season. That literally has to be my least favorite thing about spring; even reading about a tornado watch that was issued for Florida (my friend lives there and I was checking the weather) had me shaking, mainly because I know that weather is bound to hit any day now.
As another change in topic, high school transition night was supposed to be tonight. It’s some night where they show you the layout of the high school and you can meet the teachers… but I didn’t bather to go; there will come a day this summer where I’ll go up to the high school, give it a tour, and meet the teachers anyway.
Speaking of which, I’m sort of hoping I don’t get put in Pre AP next year. I thought of that, because my o&m teacher and I were going to talk to the high school counciler (not mental guidance counciler, the one that manages your schedules and such), about me being in pre AP next year. Call me lazy, call me under acheaving… whatever, but I just don’t feel like doing it. You see I’m one of those who doesn’t want to drop out of high school, or even just graduate with 70’s and 80’s as my average; I want to graduate, be successfull, and have a’s and b’s in high school. I don’t care about this whole destinguished program stuff, (although my sister does, and I’m proud of her). I just don’t feel it’s nessessary; if I can get into a college that’s not poor quality, and has programming and/or meteorology classes, I’ll go for it.
But with all that said, I guess that’s the end of tonight’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it, and look forward to my next post.
(and yes, I have my next 4 posts scheduled, but I’m not releasing dates :).
Thanks for reading,
Type you later,
Steve.
P.s. There are only 10 Mondays left of school! Hurray!
P.S.S:
this is the first one of my posts that is over 1000 words… isn’t it?

astonishing monthly wrap up plus life update

Hey guys,
steve again.

May 2013 has been the best month by far for views. In this post, I am going to tell you about that, a true prediction, and some life updates. Please enjoy.

Starting with the blog, I am going to tell you some stats I’ve collected as of this morning at 9:20 AM.
First of all, try and take a guess about how many views there were this month alone. This little 31 day period!

If you guessed it right, you are a real lucky person and should go and try for the lottery. The number of views for this month, was 511! Also, there is an average of 17 views per day this month, by far the highest ever seen on the blog. I also recieved 15 followers since April 21. I think the third year has started with a bang! So, keep viewing and showing your loyalty, and I will certainly keep posting.

Now, here is the prediction that came true. If you click the link below, it will take you to the blog post I made in april predicting a tornado outbreak soon because of the temperature jumps.
post where I discuss my hunch about a tornado outbreak coming, and the next few links lead to tornado news about an outbreak that hit.
Also, the post I just linked to about the prediction was April 15, and the outbreak occured on May 15! What in the world?!
Here are the posts:
post 1
post 2
post 3

There are more posts about that from may 16.

–Life–

On the life note, Things have been running smoothely. On Tuesday night, me and my mom ordered a battery for my personal computer, and while we were on the site we saw an ac adapter for $9.69. I bought the current charger I have for $64, however if we’d just looked on amazon, we could’ve got both the battery and ac adapter for $37.58. I am okay with the charger I have, since it can charge multiple computers and it works fine.
On another note, school is almost out. I remember May 10’s post, blognews and updates or something like that, where I talked about school being 27 days from being over. Now, there are 6 days. Today is the last friday of the whole entire school year, and I bet in 168 hours I will have just gotten up on my first day of Summer vacation. I can’t wait!
Besides that, me, my family, and cat have been doing pretty good. I remember telling you about swamp, the first person shooter I’ve grown addicted to. In fact, the game says I’ve put in over 13 hours and 29 minutes, and I have only had the game for 3 days. Woe… I need to focus more on stranded part 2 then that game. I PROMICE I will work on it this weekend, and like I said before have it on the sight on the 8th. Don’t worry, you will love this game! I will make sure of it!!!

–future life–

I am glad to tell you another thing about the upcoming weekend (besides working on stranded). It is supposed to storm again! I mean large hail, damaging winds, lightning, and heavy rain! So do you know what that means? That means I will hopefully be able to treat you with another storm recording! Also remember that you can visit the natural event recordings page fore a bunch of recordings like the one I want to make tomorrow. It has Wednesday night’s storm, easter storm, plus several tracks I’ve made to sound like awesome storms!

Since I’ve got us going on the future, I must say we won’t be doing a whole bunch of work at school. Monday is the last full school day, Tuesday is an all day tiger bash thing where we’ll get to hang out, socialise, play games and stuff like that. Wednesday we get out at 12:15, and as well as Thursday. Thursday when we get out at 12:15, we have an 80 day (11 week 3 day) break to look forward to. I can’t wait for that!

Well, as a wrap up, I have enjoyed talking to you on this rather long and information filled post. I also would like to thank the 15 new followers this month and late last month, and the people who got the blog 511 views this month alone. You guys enspire me to keep posting and building this site, and me and you visiters worked as a team to get the site as far is it is today–and I’m sure it will keep getting bigger in the future!

some more blog news, a last bit of news on the tornadoes from may 15, and a thunderstorm

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I have several things to tell you, as seen in the post title. First of all, tornado news.
I origionally thought there were 16 tornadoes in the may 15 tornado outbreak. Well, at first I thought 10, then 12, then 16, and now the media is officially saying 18. I wonder if that’s the last they’ll say about the tornados, but if it isn’t I will keep updating you.
Second, now that we are in the weather speret, I will give you a recording I made last night, May 29, 2013 at 6:57 PM as a thunderstorm that nearly completely darkend the skies and prodused massive claps of thunder, and at one point in the recording it almost sounds like tiny pieces of hail hitting the window I was near. Listen below or download:
download and listen on your computer

Lastly, some more game news.

I have gotten caried away once again on Stranded part 2, and it is going to be longer then I expected. Thus, I will need 5 extra days to work on it due to school, chores, games, and all that stuff. I will try and take out a lot of the gaming time and focus more on the game; and I will make sure it is long and worth wile.

Hope you enjoyed this post!
