intresting weather, and a life update

Hey guys,
Steve here.

There is a winter storm warning in affect for Texas?
Yeah, you read that right. Tomorrow into Monday afternoon, there is the potential for 1 to 2 inches of sleet and ice accumulations mainly along and west of the Interstate 35 corridor; I am shocked. The winter storm, as of now, could cause power outages, extremely hazardous if not impossible travel conditions, and hopefully no school, but we’ll have to see about that.
I will continue to update you guys on this situation, and maybe post some stuff on the weather forecast page

–life–

My life has been good the past several days. I am now a level 13 on the game I’ve been playing, and would be a level 14 perhaps if I wouldn’t quit making such stupid decisions that get me killed. Some of those include fighting enemies that are one to two levels above me and stupidest of all fighting enemies when my hit points (health) are below fifty.
Besides the game, I have been working more on Stranded, but kind of taking it easy. I have created that avoid the Rpg board, but unfortunately there are still parts of it that need touching up, and the process of cleaning the thing up is very confusing (you would have to use the program I’m using to create it to get what I’m talking about).
On other news, I’m in a pretty good mood today. This is probably due to the fact that I just had coffee and got up so nothing has happened, and there’s at least a 50% chance we won’t go to school on Monday, and a 15 to 20% chance we won’t go on Tuesday either. The main reason however, is the fact that I have a weekend to look forward to, and a short school week that is going to be at most two days long, before a nice five day break, even if it is not the longest break you could get.
Finally, if you’re wanting more information about what has happened in the past two or three days, you have come to the right blog post. Thursday was a pretty normal day; after going to school, I was able to just relax and play my game, not worrying about homework or anything like that. Yesterday, after going to school and getting home in all that cold weather, I was presented with a nice surprise. My mom, being the good mom she is, made me hot coco and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies for a snack. Plus, I was able to come home to a warm and good smelling house.
The rest of yesterday consisted of playing hogwarts, crashing for a wile with my cat (he must’ve been feeling tired as well), and then taking a nice warm bath.
I can’t say much about today, because it just started. I know that me, my sister, and dad are going bowling around noon with the whole goal ball team, and after that it will more than likely become an afternoon of chillaxing. Tomorrow is expected to be extremely cold and stormy (mainly in the afternoon), and I’m looking forward to that. I will also continue to update the weather forecasts page (the one I gave a link to on the top of the post) with weather forecasts, that way you aren’t bugged by like 3 blog posts in 24 hours.
I guess that about wraps up today’s post. I suppose I’ll see you in a couple days.

Thanks for reading,

the passed five days of Steven D’s story of a life: goalball, school insidences, future events…

Hey you guys,
Steve here.

I’m finally back, after a rather unusually long absence. It just seems that lately, the days are going by so fast, five day periods like this one just come and go in the blink of an eye. I just don’t get it.
Anyway, to keep this post a little bit short, I’ll tell you what you need to know.
As for my life, that has been going great since I last updated you. I have been attending school, working on stranded, chilling, and goal balling. I don’t know if I told you this or not, but I set myself a goal on stranded. If I told you this on Wednesday, you can either read this again because you enjoy my blog posts, or you can skip ahead a couple lines.
My goal for this game is that I will work on it at least once every day. I don’t care if it’s one page; even one sentence will do. But I really have to do this; because if I don’t, I could lose motivation to work on any further developments or forget about the project all together. I’m sure that both you and I don’t want any of that to happen.
Back to my life, there is some stuff that will be going on in my life in the near future. On Wednesday, if I have a ride home, I will be going after school to do a service project for NJHS, which if you recall back in march I joined the day before my birthday. NJHS, or National Junior honor Society (for those who don’t know), is something that if you keep good grades, and manage to make it in there in the first place will look good on your college applications. Anyway, that will get me one service hour (we have to have 10 and oh crap I don’t have one 🙁 ).
With that being said, I also have another Orchestra concert coming up on December third. But since that’s far away, and we have a break in between now and then, I will not talk much about it in this blog post.
Also while we’re on the subject of school, I got a big scare in Spanish class last week. For some reason, my report card said I got a 73. As you know, I’m not the kind of student who would score such a tremendously poor (in my book) score, so I was a bit worried. Turns out, I was worried for nothing. My grade in there is a 90. I don’t know if the grades got mixed up or what, but I’m just glad I have a better grade than previously thought.
Next Tuesday (I can’t believe it), is the start of thanksgiving break. I can’t wait for that! Also note that three weeks after that is Christmas break.
As for weather, it is supposed to get really cold this weekend. This week will be in the 60’s with partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies for the next few days, but Thursday into Friday, a cold front will come in and oh boy. It’s supposed to fall into the upper 40’s Friday afternoon with strong winds and rain. What a nice day for some coco and a day of chilling… sucks I’ll have to be at school.
Saturday through Monday are also expected to be in the upper 40’s.
While we’re still on the topic of weather, two extraordinary weather events have taken place, that leave me just a tad bit worried. First it was tropical storm Haiyan that slammed into the Philippines. That killed around 4000 people is what they’re saying. Also last weekend there were 40 tornadoes in Illinois. That is highly unusual for both the state, and the month the tornadoes occurred in… hmm.
On a last note, the development process of Stranded Part Three is going well. I have put in an obstacle course, which contains an avoid-the-RPG board. This is like whack a mole, but the RPGS pop out and you have to dive and/or jump in a different direction to avoid them. I will not disclose any more information on this object; you’ll just have to wait.
As far as pod casting goes, I have done episode 13. My parents have taken the carpet out of my room (their redoing carpet upstairs), and all my stuff with it. Once I get settled again, I’ll record episodes 14 and 15.
Other than that, I don’t have much else to say except…

P.s. I’ve grown addicted to this game Hogwarts Live for about the third time. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it on the blog before, but if I haven’t here’s the link:

I hope you enjoy both that game, and this post.

Poems and Updates

Hey guys,
Steve here.

Two days have come and passed,
Wednesday is here at last.
Oh how life can go so fast,
some times don’t you wish you could make it last?
Well during that time I worked on my game book,
with which my goal is to get you hooked,
and not complain about how long playing it took.
And in this post I plan to give you a quick look.
Also I have a great surprise,
This is sure to make your spirits rise.
But be sure not to close your eyes,
for in this post the excitement lies.
Also the weather has been quite cold,
and honestly I think it’s getting old.
A warm cup of coco I wish I could hold,
I want it to be hot, but not to scold.
But instead I sit here thinking of what to write,
on this cold but happy autumn night.
Bundled up, nice and tight,
where the temperature is just right.

How did you like my poem? It was kind of a clever way to sum up what I have to say in this post.
First, since that was the first stanza, I’ll talk about the past two days. On Tuesday, I’m proud to say I got another item on my to-do list out of the way. Trashua is officially nine! Talk about wanting to make life last and wondering why it has to go so fast, jeez I can’t believe that cat is already nine!
Also, I have worked more on stranded. I can’t give you a summary, but have enough info to tell you what to expect close to the beginning. Let me do it in a fun way…

Introducing…

Stranded part three! The third installment of the stranded series!
Today’s forecast is, slugs the size of simi trucks, portals, modified google self driving cars, and mysterious forests!
Okay let’s get serious again. On the part where I was telling you the forecast above, those are the objects you encounter at the beginning of the story. Spoiler alert :).
Expect more information about the game, along with insight into more erratic things that you will find as I continue to set up the world for Stranded part three!

Onto podcast news, I’m proud of myself! I didn’t actually let you loyal blog readers down again. You appreciate my work, and I respect and appreciate you guys for reading this stuff. So, I decided to go ahead and do the right thing, despite my severe case of I Don’t Feel Like It itis, and get at least one podcast episode out of the way. As I said in stanza three of my poem, I have a surprise, but don’t close your eyes. The podcast has once again gone through changes. These changes, however, are far more significant than a simple name change, one of which occured a couple months ago when the Steven D podcast became the Steven and Devin podcast. Now, I have deleted and added new segments. Instead of a life and weather segment, my podcast starts with news and announcements segment, which covers news about the site, game and/or software previews that I might be covering, new developements such as storm or game recordings, and anything else I think would be revelent for that segment.
Next, I have the intresting things segment. Here, I will share intresting tips, such as hooking your microphone to your computer, getting your computer to talk back to you, doing a backflip across the solar system from the moon to Pluto and other stuff like that. 🙂 🙂
By the way, while the microphone thing is still fresh in your mind, I got a really funny comment from my spannish teacher, mister_madrid on Monday’s post. “You should work for the government mr Bond,” it said. I didn’t get it at first, but now I do. He was calling me James bond, the fictional character created by Ian Flemming, and featured in 12 novels and 2 short storie collections. James bond was an intelogence officer who worked for the secret intelligence service, commonly known as MI6. James Bond’s code name was 007. Don’t you think 007 would be the best thing to name a someone?

Getting back to what I originally came to write about, the weather has been very cold the past two days. If you remember Monday’s post, I said it would be that way for a few days. What I said about that coco in my poem is actually true. I really want some hot chocolate right about now.
This weekend though, it is supposed to warm up. It is supposed to get to eighty on Sunday, in sharp contrast to the upper fourties we had yesterday.
And finally, I don’t know if you know this or not, but this morning was the first official freeze of the season! Well I can say, it sure is freezin’ in this autumn season.

Steve.

Monday updates

Hey you guys,
Steve here.

Okay so I’m finally going to blog. I’m not going to put it off until later, as I’ve been doing since yesterday. I thought “Hmm, I’ll just blog Sunday night,” and when that didn’t happen I thought I’d do it this morning. Well I’m not going to tell you all the times I said I’d blog and didn’t, so let’s just be happy I’m finally at it.

The weather has been cool and rainy today, as is expected tomorrow and Wednesday. For some reason, I made the mistake of wearing shorts in today’s weather, as I did last week when it was forty five degrees.

#weathermanproblems

Wow, I can’t believe I just did that. Who puts hash tags on a blog?
Me that’s who.

Well let me get back to my blog update.
Also, the time change happened yesterday. It totally caught me off guard. The only thing that made me even realize that the time had changed in the first place was when I listened to the weather report and the time it gave was an hour behind my watch. One thing I really like about the daylight savings to standard time change is the fact that when I have to get up at 7:00 for school, my body actually thinks it’s 8. Since I usually get up at 8 or after on the weekends anyway, I was very refreshed and ready to go when I got up this morning.
Now, on to a very bizarre thing that happened yesterday morning. For some reason, both my mom and I had close to the same dream; both dreams had my cat Trashua dieing. Mine was that my mom and dad tricked me in to believing that Trashua was dead (they kept that up for three days). My mom’s dream was the more creepy one however. In her’s, Trashua actually died, but that’s not even the scarry part.
Our family (me, my mom and dad, I don’t think Libby was in that dream) went to this place where there were a lot of kittens. Of course I was beyond distraught; I had just lost my beloved cat and all. Well, for some reason, every time I’d go to leave that place, this orange cat with no tail would do a long meow and run towards me. Why is this creepy you ask? Well because Trashua is orange and has no tail… that’s why. So yeah I was pretty spooked after that one.
On to less scary and more happy things, we had the family get together yesterday. Everyone ended up staying until about 10:30. The thing was a blast, mainly since I got to pig out on mexican food all night and enjoy the company of my family. We also played the game catch phrase, but I ended up falling asleep because I got bored and was already tired in the first place.
Today, as I mentioned at the beginning of the post, today has been one of those rainy days. My o&m teacher, (orientation and mobility teacher) let me get a little (by that I mean large) double chocolate chip frappuccino from star bucks. I don’t know why I had to drink that so fast; I got 5 freaking brain freezes in about 10 minutes… but it was worth it.
Tomorrow and Wednesday, I have to go to school early in the morning (7:40) for orchestra rehearsals, because as you know I have a concert coming up on Thursday.
Well with that being said, I don’t have much more to say about life events. I will not even comment about the podcast, because I’ve ran out of excuses. 🙂
I will be able to get that done tomorrow or Wednesday, but Devin will not be in the casts since he’s at the school for the blind this week.

Steve.

Beta Testing, Podcast Delays, and Life Updates

Hey guys,
Steve here.

It has been a good long week (weekend really) since I last blogged for you guys. I can’t say I haven’t had the time, because though I’ve been gone for a week now I have had plenty of time. First of all I have to tell you about the podcast.

Devin Gutierrez has been away from his computer. I don’t know what he’s been doing (he tried to call me last night but I was unavailable at the time), but has been offline all day today. So until further notice, there is no podcast.

As far as for what I’ve been beta testing, it’s a game developed and maintained by my friend Danny Standley, and is called Death Match. I have set up a website for the game (I can’t take all the credit because Danny helped), so here it is:
http://dmweb.usa.cc. By the way dm is short for Death match. Visit that site to learn more, listen to demos, discuss, and learn about Death Match. Note the story page is not up though.

—————-
My life, if you really want to know :).

Last week was a pretty good one. Monday of course went Okay… but I think September 30th’s post covered that. Tuesday was a pretty normal Day, along with Wednesday Thursday and Friday. Basicly to sum up the week days there was homework, games (I took a break from scm coding), podcast planning, The daily annoyance ritual of school, and stuff like that. (I chose the word annoyance because school annoys me).
The weekend was the most eventful part of my last week. On saturday, we had goalball practice (being me, my sister, and our parents). As you know by now, our practices are 4 or 5 hours long, so that’s how long it lasted. After that, we came outside to weather that proved the following statement:
“If you don’t like the weather in Texas, wait 5 minutes.”
When we went to goalball Saturday morning, it was humid and 80 degrees. I war basketball shorts and a t-shirt and it felt good out there. When we got out of goalball practice, the weather was cold so that when we went to the state fair (I’ll talk about that in a second), I wore jeans and a heavy sweater and it still felt pretty cold. If you’re wondering, the temperature at 8 or 9 (when we left for practice) was what I said it was (80 or so), and at 2:00 it was 54 degrees. Can you say “Texas is bipolar?”
Well, on to the state fair. We went around 4:30 or so, and I can honestly say I had a great time. My sister and I rode this really spinny ride where you lie on your stomach and the thing goes up and spins you around kinda fast and then you stop (it lasts about 3 minutes or so), and our family walked around and tried some pumpkin pie coffee sample, a fried cake ball (oh my gosh it was great), and a fried snicker bar (that was also very tasty as well).
Around 7:00 or so, we had to leave the fair because it started to rain on us. My mom was adamant upon spending all our coupons, so we did some fun house. In there, there was a thing where you walked across some rather slippery bords and tried not to let your feet fall in the wholes, a moving walkway, a walkway that moved back and forth, one that went up and down, one that vibrated, and even one that went side to side. Also there were punch bags to walk through, sudden noises, and a spinning tunnle that you had to go through. (It spun around and you had to walk forward and to the right to get out). After that was done, we had a nice old shower in the rain storm, and went to eat at On the Border.
Basicly, the funnest part of Saturday was getting to spend the whole day with the family.

Yesterday wasn’t as eventful. I just basicly hung out, (my parents’ friends came over to help us fix our AC which broke on Thursday and left the second floor of our house at 90 degrees in the afternoon that day).
Today has been full of Beta testing for Death Match (Danny finally put me on the team and everything and I’m feeling honored :)).

Well I guess that about wraps up today’s post. I’ll do the podcast when I can, and be watching the dm site for new releases.

Steve.
P.S. It’s the 900th day of the blog! Keep viewing and I’ll keep posting!

news

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

Cold temps, milestones, broken records… wait, woe!!!

Yep, that is exactly how I’ve felt since the last blog post which occurred just short of 36 hours ago. Every since then, wave after wave of jaw dropping news has slammed into me. I better post the latest developments to you.

First of all, I reached another milestone yesterday morning at 9:37 AM, when the 50th follower joined the blog. Thanks 50th follower, because you’ve helped me hit a very important milestone in this blog!
So, now that we have the blog milestone taken care of, I will now talk about the weather.

The weather has been taking mad dips, twists, jumps, and bumps for the last 2 months. It is like we are riding a never ending wild roller coaster, one that leaves you wondering, “What’s next?”
It almost seems one day you are breaking out the hot coco and turning on the heater, while on the next you almost want to take a swim! I still have a feeling that a tornado outbreak is immenent, and tonight only further proves my theory.
Late tonight, a strong coldfront will move into our area, bringing tempratures from the 70’s before midnight to upper 40’s and lower 50’s by sunrise. After the coldfront moves through, scattered light rain, strong winds, and cloudy skies will take over our Thursday; and tempuratures will struggle to make it to 50 all day long!

Not only that, but Thursday night is the more interesting part. Winds will die down, skies will clear, and temperatures will drop into the upper 30’s early Friday morning. This is going to be the coldest it has ever been this late in the spring!!! Yes, you read right, the coldest ever this late in the season!
After that, highs will hit 60 Friday afternoon, which is still 20 degrees short of the average for this time of year, which happens to be 80.

As far as my comments go, I almost wonder if we are going to swim this summer, or ice scate. When will this weather go away? And, why is winter so hesitant on leaving?

Well, as far as life goes, not much has happened. We are doing a research project in social studies, and I got Michael Dell, the creator of the Dell computer. Of course, that does make me pretty happy; it adds some enjoyment to the research project.

As far as blog news goes, you should probably check the latest site news and updates page, because there are new developments and anouncements you must read.
Otherwise, have a great evening, and enjoy the rest of your week!

Steve.

how my day went

Today, I got up and went to school like normal. Then, I had to stay at home alone because my mom was picking my sister up from Auston, and my dad had a layover at work. I occupied the time my mom was gone by doing a social studies assignment. When she and my sister got home, I contenued to work on the assignment until it was completely done, played jenga for a while, then ate some beaf stue for dinner. After dinner, I just hung out with my mom for a while because Libby was asleep. Then, I ate a snack, and posted my journal entry. That is all I did today.

how my day went

Today, I got up early, because I had to ride the bus to school. After getting up and getting ready on my own with just libby there because mom and dad had work, I got on the school bus around 6:55 in the morning. We got to school around 7:45, and from there the day proceeded like normal. After the bus took me home, I dosed off and cuttled with the kitties for a while, until my dad got home with Libby. Then, I played on the computer until dinner, ate, then spent the rest of the night using the computer, playing with my helicopter, and hanging out with my family. That is all I did today.
