3 whole years!

Hey guys,
Steve here.
It’s already been 3 years everyone! And together, we can celebrate another year of this awesome site…
Well yeah, that is true, but let’s cut to the chase. As with all annual posts, I have a stats report to show you guys. If you’d like to compare the stats report below with the one from last year, click here.

  • 10198 views
  • 757 posts
  • 32 categories
  • 1203 search tags
  • 22 pages

Those are just some of the stats for this blog. However, I have more to talk about than just stats in this post, thus is why that list was so brief.
April 21, 2011 at 5:05 PM, I published my first ever post to this blog. Can you believe that? That means, at the time of this writing, this blog is approximately 3 years and 4 hours old. And yes, believe it or not, most of the views and followers came in the last year! In fact, there were only 44 followers, and 4902 views on April 21, 2013, and that number has since doubled, or maybe even tripled over just this past year… talk about astonishing!
switching topics, let me give you a brief life update (it probably won’t be brief :). But anyway, Wednesday and Thursday of last week were normal days. However, on Friday after school, my family and a few of our church friends went to the lake house.
We stayed the night and came home on Saturday evening. It went mostly the same as last time, except there were quite a few more people, and I didn’t get a sunburn, mainly due to the fact that I had to lather myself with thick layers of sunscreen practically every hour… but it’s better to be safe than sorry… right?
Anyway, the excitement of the weekend didn’t end there. No, after going home, showering, and chilling for the rest of Saturday night, we had to get up at 5:15 in the morning to attend Easter sunrise service at our church. After that, we were there until 12:30, because of Sunday school and regular Sunday morning service.
After church, we met up with Justin, and went to my papa Dutch’s house for easter dinner, where I had pork, sweet potatoes, bread, and candy.
We ended up staying until around 4:30 or so. And after we got home, I took a nap, and woke up thinking it was Monday already. Yes, I actually woke up, panicking at 7:40 last night because I thought it was 7:40 this morning. I didn’t truly know what day it was until 3 minutes later, after getting upset that there was no coffee, and having pulled out a plate, when I absent mindedly checking the date on my watch and realizing it was still Sunday.
Well, the night ended well anyway–a nice energizing cup of warm coffee, and a thunderstorm. Unfortunately however, it wasn’t one worth recording, but none the less it was pleasant to listen to.
As for today, it was your average Monday. I had a doctors appointment, but only missed choir and part of math. However, on a last note, there were 2 more storms today. I didn’t record any of them though.
Moving on, I am excited to tell you that I have our next episode of the Steven D podcast planned out. I will be recording it tomorrow afternoon–so, if you’re subscribed to the feed via a pod catcher or podcast receiver, check that at some point tomorrow. If you’re not subscribed to the feed, however, be sure to check the podcast page.
Well, I guess that about wraps up tonight’s post. I hope you enjoyed it!
Thanks for reading,
type you later,
Steve.
Ps. I’d just like to thank you guys for putting up with, and reading this blog. I hope it’s been funny, intertaining, informational, and exciting!
You guys have been awesome for putting up with delays, forgetfulness, and procrastination on my part. Even on those 3 week blogging breaks, 2 week gamebook release delays, and month long podcast delays, you guys patiently sat through it all, and had faith in me, knowing that I’d get the job done some how.
Well, if you guys continue to read this blog, you can look forward to more of your favorite posts and content over the coming years.
Thankyou for reading everyone, and have a great week!

A wonderful birthday party

Hey guys,
Steve here.
Yes, I know it’s Monday, and that usually means Monday’s Musings. Monday’s Musings 17 will still happen, but it will be next week–I have a lot to say in this update, and don’t currently have a good enough topic for the Monday’s Musings post for this week.
Unfortunately, I must start off this post with some bad news; not crushing news (to you guys anyway), and not news that will impact this blog and how it runs, but none the less bad news. So I was telling my dad about the software I’m creating, and he informed me that he doesn’t want me releasing it. I can understand where he’s coming from, he only is doing this for my good, but none the less I wasn’t very happy about it. I should’ve told him about my software developing dream 2 years ago when I first got it, so maybe then I woulddn’t have gotten so deep into creating software and wanting to do it.
I’ll admit, that after learning that I wasn’t supposed to release software, I was a bit upset Thursday night, and decided to quit work on my software. This decision still stands, and until I can release them, my programs will be safely tucked away in my private dropbox folder.
Moving on to better, less depressing news, Last weekend had to be one of the best birthday parties I’ve ever had. We went to the lake as promised, and though my sister brought her friend, two of my best friends Oscar (the one from church) and Joseph (a friend from school) got to come.
To start it off, Friday was an all out good day. Besides school, I got a great storm recording (that I will share at the end of the post and on the natural events page), that contained some hail, and a really good close up of wind, rain, and lots of lightening. And yes, my cat was in an attention seaking mood that day, so he meowed at the end of the recording, and of course I had to meow back… lol.
Anyway, after catching that recording, my friends came over, and we hung out until it was time to make the hour long drive to my grand parents’ lake house. When we got there, we had a dinner of hotdogs and chips. Then, my dad and one of my friends went out fishing, and I fell asleep very early, so I don’t know what all the rest of them were doing.
On Saturday, I awoke to the refreshing smell of pancakes, and ended up having 10 of the things. Oscar and I were trying to see who could eat the most, and I out ate him 10 to 6. Moving on, after breakfast, we went fishing for a while, and spent the rest of the day riding the pontune, and playing and having a good time.
For dinner that night, we had hamburgers, and then a fantastic tasting cookie cake. And before I knew it, it was time to go home.
Although that party ended with me getting a pretty painful and red sunburn, it was well worth it. Getting to go to the lake house isn’t something we do often, so when we do go I try to have as much fun as possible–and my birthday party was no exception. I had lots of fun, and look forward to the next time we go.
Since we got home around 8:00 Saturday night, nothing worth blogging about happened for the rest of the night. But on Sunday, we had pretty much a full day of church. You know the singing practice I was going to last Sunday right after I wrote that post? That was to practice for 5th Sunday singing, which occured yesterday afternoon. Someone from church and I sung “He Knows My Name” for the 5th Sunday Singing (It’s up to my mom whether or not she posts the link to the video in the comments). But the reason we were at church all day was because there was morning survice, a potluck lunch (I had meat loaf, fajitas, a ham sandwich, spaghetti, and chocolate cake), and right after that was the 5th sing service, where people would either play or sing a christian song in front of all the people in the church.
Besides that, nothing else happened this weekend. On the bright side, I recorded episode 19 of the Steve n d podcast on Thursday night, so you can go to the podcasts page if you want to listen to it.
As for today, it was a normal school day. Tomorrow and Wednesday, however, we will be having staar testing (state of texas assessment of accadimic readiness), over math and English. I’m not sure which day is which; but I know the only test I feel nervice about is the math one. English I feel pretty confident about, but math… well not so much. I think I’ll do fine though. I haven’t failed that class all year; I haven’t made anything below a B minus in there.
As a final note, we could have some more potentially severe weather mid week. And the most promising day for bad weather just happens to be April 3, or severe weather day as I like to call it. Will April 3 continue to live up to its name? Will we get a massive tornado outbreak? Or will something happen and there are no storms that day or the ones that do occur aren’t severe? Well we’ll just have to see, I guess.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post, and sorry (yes I am sorry) there was no Monday’s musings post. Don’t worry, they will resume next week, It’s just that I needed to get this post published, and couldn’t think of a musing topic. Just letting you know for future reference, that kind of stuff might actually happen in the future.
Thanks for reading,
type you later,
Steve.
p.s. I didn’t forget the storm recording, here it is:

or listen to it online:

A couple things to be excited about

Hey guys,
Steve here.
Since the last time I posted a blog update (not counting the Monday’s musings post), I’ve began to work on yet another sQuad product. As you know, sQuad word is about ready for release. I won’t say that again, because you’ve heard that, what, three times now?
Anyway, There’s still an annoying bug where when you have “show version number” checked, the version number will overlap the text you’re typing, so until I fix that and test it with my friend at school I won’t be able to release it.
Meanwhile, I’ve started on something else as was previously mentioned, a game for the blind. Now you sighted folks, I wouldn’t recommend playing this because I haven’t tested it, and probably won’t test it, with my sighted friends, because I want it to be an audio game. However, if you have a deck of cards and want to play it, or want to program it for sighted users, you can do so. The game is called Trash. But since I’m not too good at explaining stuff and don’t want to spend over half this blog post explaining the game, I’ll give you a link to learn more about it yourself:
http://www.wikihow.com/Play-Trash
I hope to get that game finished by this weekend or next week, but we’ll see. Also, as a last note on software I’m creating or helping create, I’ll hopefully release ultra pad if we can just get rid of that bug. I think it’ll be easy though.
In other news, I’ve been doing well the past few days. If I wasn’t programming, I was reading, eating, at school, in bed, or at church. And listen up fellow bloggers, you’re gonna like this. In the book I’m reading, though it’s about zombies, blogging is a pretty big part of society. You can get a blogging license, upgrade it depending on how good and experienced you are, and lots of people look to the blogging community, because we tell the uncensored truth.
Like even when the zombies started rising and attacking people, people looked to bloggers, because bloggers would tell them how it was. They didn’t have to lie or cover anything up.
As far as the future goes, it’s almost spring break. If I can just wait one day, it will finally be here. It doesn’t seem like it was a year ago that spring break last occurred, but I guess time just flies by sometimes. As for what I plan to do over the break, I have a few things planned. Chill, forget about school, program, Skype, church, and whatever else unexpected things my parents throw at me if any.
Speaking of which, that trip we took to the lake last weekend, I didn’t find out about that until Thursday night, when my mom brought it up in a conversation, as if she expected me to have already known about it. I was pretty shocked.
As for my birthday, I’ve decided I want a family dinner, because I’ve ran out of ideas for a party, and it doesn’t sound very appealing to me this year for some reason. I haven’t decided what I want for my birthday yet, but I’m working on that. As for your part, remember to mark Steve eve (March 25) and the day of the best (March 26) on your calendar. And for you readers who haven’t clicked the follow button yet (you’re still awesome anyway), Mark April 21 as well, because the blog will be turning 3 on that day, and I’ll be putting an annual report. And for you followers, though you’ll get the report in your inbox, you can mark that day as another milestone for one of your favorite blogs, and think back to the previous years and look forward to the next ones to come.
But we aren’t quite there yet, so we still have a few more posts to go until then.
I hope you enjoyed this post!
Thanks for reading,

Final updates, for the next week

Hey you guys,
steve again.
So, as you probably know, I went to the lake house recently. My friend even got to come, as you will figure out on the superdeekout review and in a recent blog post I posted on Tuesday. Not only did he stay the night thursday while we were at the lake house, but on friday as well.
The latter part of the week was the funnest, while the earlyer part of the week was not so active in my life, but produced stunning stats.
First, I will talk about the stats.
On Monday and Tuesday, I received a total of 143 views. I don’t know why, but my week starts on Monday and ends on Sunday. I got more views on Tuesday than I’d received in a day since October 2011. The total was 77 on Tuesday, with a close number of 66 on Monday. Wednesday was 44, Thursday was 8, Friday was 11, and Saturday was 41. Note that since it is still Saturday, it isn’t included in the weekly stats. As of now, the average number of views per day for this week and the month of July stands at 41. If stats like that keep on showing up, I may smash the record for the average number of views per day, which was set last month at 18. That was a close win compared to May, which ended at 17. Hmm… I guess I’ll have to keep spinning out these awesome blog posts and stuff like that will continue to happen.

Now, I will change the subject to my lake house and camp.

My lake house trip was a fun one. Me, my dad, and Devon (the friend I brought) were there by 2 in the afternoon, and I was in the water by 4. The weather was strange that afternoon–it got cloudy, then rained when the sun came out. It repeated this pattern about 3 times.
On another note, I should say that Thursday was both fun and fast. I was in the water swimming for about 2 hours, before Me, Dad, Mom, Libby (mom met us at the lake house a little bit later because she had to get Libby from Austin), and a few members from dad’s side of the family went on a boat parade, in my papa and nana’s pontoon boat. After that, me, Libby, and Devon crashed.
Finally, it was dinner time. I ate a hamburger and a half, chips and bean dip, a deviled egg, fruit punch, and a hot dog. When dinner was finished, us kids got to launch roman candles and sparklers, and then my dad put on an awesome fireworks show. It was awesome for Me and Libby because we could see the light and hear the tremendous booms and other weird noises. Devon, who can still see a bit got to see the colors and whatever else you see come from a firework.

On Friday, We all spent the morning and early afternoon just chillinn’ at the lake and having fun. My friend Devon was able to get up on the wake board on his second try, and spent like 5 to 10 minutes riding on the knee board.

Soon however, the trip ended, and we had to pack up and split. Me and Devon rode with mom, while Libby rode with dad and the dogs (Yes, dad brought his dogs with him. Not that there was anything wrong with that–they kept my nana and papa’s dogs preoccupied).
Well anyway, Not much has happened since the trip. I just hung out with Devon last night and into this morning, before he had to leave and go back home. Now, I’m just sitting here typing this blog, and don’t have anything major planned until tomorrow, when I have to go to camp.

Well, I guess that about wraps up the post. I will be back next Saturday to tell you all about camp–so until then…

extremely import blog notice, and some not so extremely important stuff

Hello guys,
steve here.

As the title says, There is some extremely important stuff I must tell you.
File den is remaking there site completely in mid august. What does this mean for the blog?
Well, it means that none of the files will be available for a little bit, but me, being a really smart person, decided to back up the files on my computer so that I can upload them when the remaking process is over. Don’t stress now, the files are still available until mid august which is 3 podcasts away and about 50 days.
Other than that, I recently uploaded my podcast episode 6. Go get it at the podcasts page. Here is what I did:
1. I did a life update.
2. I did a weather update.
3. Devin reviewed the of the day, which is a japanese name so I can’t spell it.
I also released a review of super deekout. Go listen to the review here:
audio game reviews
Thanks!

Well, I am going to the lake house in 2 days, and I found out my other friend Devon could come. In fact, the phone call came in the middle of the super deekout review, so you will here my phone ringing, then I will come back and apologize for the interruption. I so can’t wait–and, I will bring my computer and blog about the experience. Well, I’ll blog when I get back home Saturday.

Well I better end this post because It doesn’t need to be too long–it was just meant for a quick news update, so…

thanks for reading,

A fun day on the lake

Hello, as I’m sure you know, it is laber day. Well, my family and some friends went out on the lake today, even my cousin Thomas and libby’s friend Madison. Well, we spent the morning in the beach area. Us kids had to tread threw some horible grassie vine type crap that cut our legs and feet. Yeah, it was painful, but I swam as fast as I could in order to get out of there. Well, we had to eat a snack, then get on the boat. On that boat, I tubed for a while, then swam. I was able to swim at least 150 feet without stopping, not to mincion the currant that was pulling me away. After I did that, we came back and ate burgers and stuff, then swam on the beach. I spent most of the rest of the time listening to a group of people kayacing and another one throwing rocks at eachother, while I spent 15 minutes trying to dig tree roots out of the ground.
Finally, It was time to load up and go home. I rode with dad, and so did Libby, but Thom and Madison rode with mom so she could drop them off. When we came home, Libby and I showered, then ate some oatmeel, and finally, I posted my journal entry for the day.

how my day went

Today, was the day that the three of us (me, my dad, and my sister) drove to broken bow. We also brought my older brother Broadrik, who as you know is about 20.
When we got there, we spent the afternoon having a good ol time plaing in the lake, riding the boat, (yes, dad brought his boat with us.)
Even though I was hungry, I was still sad that we had to get out of the water for dinner and to shower, because that would be the last time we’d be in until tomorrow. Anyway, I got out, and we all drove to our cabbin. note: that other people in dad’s side of the family came to broken bow as well, including his dad, Dutch who is my grandpa.)
After we cleaned up, we had to go to another cabin for the fish fry (dinner.) We spent the remainder of the night hanging out and chatting at that cabin, until about 11, when we came back to ours. Then, I hopped on the computer, had a brief programing tutorial, before posting the journal, and crashing. That is all I did today.
