Some Interesting News

Hey guys,
Hey guys,
Steve here.
Several of you don’t know this, but a few years ago I used to have this podcast going. It was very informal, and not too well put together – I had a podcast feed, and a page, and I think a feedback form but that’s about it. The topic of the podcast, as well as its schedule, changed quite often. I eventually stopped doing that podcast, because I got burnt out on it. I also think I was younger, busier, less sure, etc, so I never really planned episodes and ended up making commitments I couldn’t really keep up with.
However, I am trying the podcast thing again. Over these last couple years, I’ve been watching lets plays of games on Youtube, and listening to fellow more professional blind peoples’ streams. While I will not pretend to be professional, (I want a laid back and chill but still somewhat structured cast), I will have it a lot more put together than its predecessor.
The first Episode will be on November 1. I will attempt to do an audio stream of it, combined with a live chat room, but this may or may not be possible. If not, I’ll still record and post it as normal.
I invite you to visit the podcast page, linked below. There I have posted the description of the podcast/my goal with it, as well as a “next planned episode” section which will detail what I will be doing in the next episode and when it will be created. There is also a feedback form which I encourage anyone interested in the podcast to use to suggest, comment, criticize, or just chat about an episode or the podcast in general. I intend this podcast to be as listener-driven and communicative as it is controlled by me. My listeners are what will keep this thing going, so I believe they deserve excellent treatment. I can say I do all the work but in truth, it’ll be you guys taking 30 minutes or more out of your day to listen and interact with the cast that’ll keep it going for real.
Finally, you guys who read the blog know I never ask for money on this site. I blog because I love to blog (okay I’ve been slipping, but still). I don’t believe that the content I put here, stories or otherwise, is worth asking that people fork over money to view it. However, I have added a donate button to the podcast page. Whatever is paid here will go to the cost of this site or the streaming server, or will give me, a college student, less of a likelihood to see a two-digit bank balance. My policy still stands though: I don’t expect to be paid or donated to. If I did, the button would be to buy episodes, not to voluntarily donate. This podcast is not money driven – so while I’ll mention the donate button briefly to remind people of its existence once or twice in an episode, I will not pressure anyone to use it. You donate to me if you feel like it, found the blog or a podcast good enough to warrant it, think I deserve it, whatever. If you don’t though, we’re still cool. You’re no less of a person. 🙂
That out of the way, This is the podcast page. I’m optimistic about this podcast, and generally just can’t wait to chat with people and have fun!

Latest Severe Storm Steve news

Hey you guys,
Steve here.

Reporting live from the Steven D Studios…

oh yeah whatever.

You’re probably wondering what was up with that intro. Well, I’d better tell you, huh?
Most of this news is about computers, and some of it is actually about storms.

First thing’s first, my new school computer
I got a new school computer yesterday! It’s very light, speedy, and purfect for what I need it for anyway. I am real glad I got that; it really beats my old, slow, warn out school computer that has seen better days. Anyway, the brand of computer I have isn’t dell or Apple, but it comes close. I believe it’s a Lenovo or something.
Now, moving on, I have some rather depressing news about my personal computer I use at home.
It looks like I’ve caught a virus on that computer, and now am using it in safe mode. This isn’t all depressing however, since I know just what to do (for now anyway). After I finish this blog post, I’m going to restore the computer to August 8, which will most likely fix the problem. If it doesn’t, just be preying for me :).
Lastly, I will be shortly making 2 more storm recordings available to you. I have one from June 9th, and another from July 16th. I know that’s way outdated right now and really isn’t anything new, but it’s dead in the middle of summer and I’m afraid there hasn’t been any powerful storms to record. Well, you can check them out on the natural events page

And finally, I should probably give a quick little summary of my first week of school.
I’m glad it’s over.
Okay, let’s try that again. That wasn’t much of a summary…
Well, It’s gone pretty well. I’m saying that now because that was the easiest week of the whole year (besides the last one), so I bet it will get quite a bit hard. If you’re wondering, my outlook on math is grim. I’m already getting confused, so I’ll have to talk to the teacher about it on Tuesday. Hmm, seems like a few tutoring sessions are in my near future.
Other than that, I don’t have much to say about my first week, since you already know my schedule.

news about the files

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I have some bad news, and some good news as well.

I think so as not to ruin your mood, I will end the post with the good news… so you know what that means. Here’s the bad news:

My files have been deleted off of file den because of a critical failure with their host. Can you believe that? Hey… at least there will be no more monthly charges for the premium plan and I will get a refund for the month of july.

Good news:

I am in the process of getting all my files back. I won’t be able to do it all this week because I’m on vacation… however it’ll be done by the end of August. Stranded part 1 and 2 will be put back on the gamebooks page for sure, and I will definately round up as many audio game reviews and demos as I can. Unfortunately, the cat recording I had on the animals page is gone, but I have a better one of nothing but him purring on my phone that I will upload to drop box and replace the old one. As far as software goes, I have lost that as well, but since I am learning programming at this time, expect more. The jenga.mp3 file I have is on my other computer, and the bouncy ball recording is still there becuse wordpress hosted it for me. So, what I’m saying here is that all (or most) of my files will be saved, and back up by late August.

In other news, I am on vacation right now in Maine, as I said I would be. I come back on Tuesday, and look forward to blogging about it.

extremely import blog notice, and some not so extremely important stuff

Hello guys,
steve here.

As the title says, There is some extremely important stuff I must tell you.
File den is remaking there site completely in mid august. What does this mean for the blog?
Well, it means that none of the files will be available for a little bit, but me, being a really smart person, decided to back up the files on my computer so that I can upload them when the remaking process is over. Don’t stress now, the files are still available until mid august which is 3 podcasts away and about 50 days.
Other than that, I recently uploaded my podcast episode 6. Go get it at the podcasts page. Here is what I did:
1. I did a life update.
2. I did a weather update.
3. Devin reviewed the of the day, which is a japanese name so I can’t spell it.
I also released a review of super deekout. Go listen to the review here:
audio game reviews
Thanks!

Well, I am going to the lake house in 2 days, and I found out my other friend Devon could come. In fact, the phone call came in the middle of the super deekout review, so you will here my phone ringing, then I will come back and apologize for the interruption. I so can’t wait–and, I will bring my computer and blog about the experience. Well, I’ll blog when I get back home Saturday.

Well I better end this post because It doesn’t need to be too long–it was just meant for a quick news update, so…

Blog Update and a couple excuses

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I can’t believe it, the last week of school is here!

As I’m sure you probably know, This post was called updates and excuses. The reason it had excuses in the title, was because for one, I’m not even close to done with stranded, and 2 I didn’t post the podcast.

As far as my new game goes, I am still in the beginning. It has 42 sections so far, but I want it to be a big game. Since I’m not as extremely addicted to swamp, I’ve began working more on it. In fact, You can find a forum newsroom for my game on the audiogames.net forum; the link is below:
go to the stranded newsroom
As you know, my reason for still being at the beginning is still the same:
1. I’ve been addicted to my game.
2. sometimes I think it would be too much work to finish it (but I will finish it anyway).
Now, on to the podcast.

I haven’t quite yet released the podcast to my website. Here’s why:
1. I recorded it, but my computer came unplugged and deleted it.
2. When I went to recover it in audacity (the audio editor I use), It pulled up some weird message and didn’t work.
3. After that I was unmotivated.

Don’t worry, I will re record that and get it on the site
Now, I told you I would record a thunderstorm on saturday, but nature ripped me off and it never stormed!!!

On to the life part

This weekend was a good one. I did however spend pretty much all of saturday waiting for a storm that didn’t come until 10:15 at night, and wasn’t big enough to record. I did however get a 5 minute recording of thunder claps. Comment below the post if you want the recording.
Other than that, my sister’s friend came over saturday night, so I just hung out playing swamp from about 10:30 to 12:300 midnight, after which I went to bed.
Sunday was a computer filled day. I logged on to swamp around 10 or so, and didn’t leave the computer until 1 30. By the way, 30 minutes of that time were spent on stranded. In case you don’t know, I can get a lot done on my gamebooks in 30 minutes, so I bet it will be done on Wednesday or so and I can begin packaging and getting ready for the big release.
Besides the 3 or so hour of playing on the computer, I didn’t do much else. I just briefly hung out with my sister and her friend, and chilled out. The only productive things I did were working on Stranded, doing the dishes and puttin gup my clothes.

As far as today goes, I still look forward to the last day of school. In fact, as of today, there are 3 days until the big day! Today is the last full day of school we’ll be doing work. I’m sure we’ll do some sort of work wednesday and thursday, but those are half days. Tomorrow, is the tiger bash or whatever they call it where you have lots of fun all day.

P.S. I WILL GET THE PODCAST POSTED AND STRANDED WILL BE FINISHED ON TIME! I promice.

some more blog news, a last bit of news on the tornadoes from may 15, and a thunderstorm

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I have several things to tell you, as seen in the post title. First of all, tornado news.
I origionally thought there were 16 tornadoes in the may 15 tornado outbreak. Well, at first I thought 10, then 12, then 16, and now the media is officially saying 18. I wonder if that’s the last they’ll say about the tornados, but if it isn’t I will keep updating you.
Second, now that we are in the weather speret, I will give you a recording I made last night, May 29, 2013 at 6:57 PM as a thunderstorm that nearly completely darkend the skies and prodused massive claps of thunder, and at one point in the recording it almost sounds like tiny pieces of hail hitting the window I was near. Listen below or download:
download and listen on your computer

Lastly, some more game news.

I have gotten caried away once again on Stranded part 2, and it is going to be longer then I expected. Thus, I will need 5 extra days to work on it due to school, chores, games, and all that stuff. I will try and take out a lot of the gaming time and focus more on the game; and I will make sure it is long and worth wile.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

updates and previews

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I am back for another blog update. Unlike most other blog updates however, this is more about news and previews and less about life.
Since the life part is short, I’ll get that knocked out first.
This weekend was chill, there wasn’t much to talk about. I have found yet another addicting game from lighttechinteractive.com, called treasure mania. In this game, you are in a gulf, with fish, and chests of treasure. If I said that the game was as easy as sailing your boat over fish and treasure waisting pointless time collecting cheap and pointless points, I would be wrong. To catch a fish, you have to travel over to where the fish noise is coming from, and press the space bar to cast your net out and catch it. Treasure chests are not simple either. no, it has to be all complicated where you have to turn on your metal detecter, and find the loud beep, beep, beep noise and lower the hook and chain, lift it up, then you will get loads of points. It is a real cool game! Oh yeah, when you hit level 5, people from the island that leads to the gulf will get just a bit angry at you and try to shoot errows at your head. You have to press control key on the left side to duck. I’ve been playing non stop this morning.

Here is a preview of my podcast. I forgot to release it yesterday, and will do so today. I also need you to know that this is the last weekly podcast! All the rest of them will be released on the first and 21st of each month to conserve space. Here is how this cast will go.
1. I will give the weather forecast
2. I will talk a bit about life, but you can also read about it in May 24th’s post.
3. The game of the day will be superdeekout. Since it is a long game, I will play level 1. If you want a full review, it will come out this week on the audio game reviews page.
4. I will do a review of my stranded part 2 game.
This is a very full podcast, and will be 20 minutes tops.
It will come out after 2 this afternoon, but before 10 tonight.
I hope you enjoyed this post.
From now on, for convenience to want to be followers, I will put a follow blog button on all posts from now on!

Blognews and update

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I have some important stuff to talk about in today’s post. There is some good news, and bad news.

First, the good news. I am going to be releasing this week’s adition of the steven D Podcast on Sunday (I thought it more reasonable to start the week with a new thing). This podcast will feature a talk about what’s to come on the blog, along with a preview of stranded part 1, the game of the day (bop it in this case), and a short quick update.
So, let me tell you how the podcast will always go.
Introduction, up coming and/or breaking news, game of the day, short blog update snippet, and then closing. SAlso, there will be a form to rate and comment on the podcast. The podcast recordings will be posted on the my podcast page, so check there every week for a new podcast. The podcast will be put in a zip archive so that I can also package them with the show notes file, which will include info concerning the game of the day, along with links mencioned in the podcast and also they might elaborate on the stuff mencioned.

Next, I have pushed the stranded part 2 release further back. Now, I have an actual date, so at least we can be happy about that. My date of release on this game is June 3, 2013 which happens to be a bit less than a month away. I will get the gamebook posted, andlink to it on the site. I can’t wait!

Now, last but not least, let me tell you about my life.
Life has been pretty good the last week. On Monday, me, my mom, and even my sister went to spin class. This was a first because usually on Monday nights my sister is studying for her AP test, but since it was her staar test day this did not occur. On Tuesday, I got caught outside in a little rainstorm In second period. Nothing really interested happened besides that on Tuesday.
Wednesday didn’t have much to offer either. It was quite boring as well.
Yesterday was a rainy warm day. Though it might’ve seemed to me that it would be cold, it was warm. All I can say however is that the weather made me fall asleep shortly after I got home.
Today is Friday. I love it when it is Friday, because I know that all I have to do is make it through one more day of school before the weekend arrives. This weekend I will be going to a Rize adventures (some company for people with disabilities) beginning of summer bash. Since I don’t know how it will turn out, I will blog Saturday night (or talk about it in the podcast on Sunday), and hopefully include pictures.
Other then that, I really don’t have much to say except that I am optimistic about the weekend ahead, and ready for school to be over. As of today, there are 27 days until June 6, the last day of school.
