Steven D Podcast Episode 17: Struck em Down to the Ground

They came at me – and one by one, with one hit, I punched ’em to the ground!

They flew all around me with their shining, false glory. They shot at me, did their best to take me down… but nah. I shot ’em to the ground.

In this episode, I played two more Japanese audio games, both of which with titles ending in “Strike”, and each boasting pissed-off protagonists tasked with the satisfying job of destroying things.

Back To School

Hey Guys,
Steve here.
Well I found out something very interesting yesterday! Apparently, it’s actually possible to carry out a Skype conversation with a… cat!
I was in a Skype call with Danny, trying to record an episode of my Podcast. However, Danny had to take a break in the middle to eat dinner. While he was gone, his cat started meowing for no apparent reason, so I meowed back at her to see if she’d answer. Guess what? She did! And since I still had the recording configuration used for my podcast set up, I was able to record a little ten second clip of it.

Maybe, just maybe, she was meowing for a totally different reason, but I’m humorous. So I say she was chatting with me. And it’s not like she can deny that… or can she?
Anyways, besides chatting with cats, life has been pretty good over the last month, even though school started back up last week. Most of my classes this year aren’t bad, well not really, although some of them are a real pain to get to, which is why I got lost twice so far.
Besides getting lost, I’m already getting homework. In fact, that started the second freaking day I attended geometry! However, the teacher seems nice and helpful, so I don’t think there will be any trouble there.
In addition to the homework, I’ve been having some technological issues in a few of my classes, and am afraid I’ll have to leave one of them for that reason. I don’t know what it is with Microsoft Office products, but they just keep going down hill in terms of accessibility. Worse still, they are practically a necessity in college and the work force these days, so I’m not really sure what I’m going to do once I get to that stage of my life unless something can be done.
That said, Microsoft Office is practically the back bone of the class in which I’m struggling. So unless they manage to fix their accessibility issues, I’m not quite sure how I’m going to pass that class.
On a more positive note, development with S Quad Racing, sluggish as it is, is going quite well. I had to fix some annoying bugs this evening, bugs that of course didn’t pop up until I tried to record the audio demo (figures). But rather than make sure all current bugs are patched up, I’ll just go ahead and throw together a demo recording, because in the next couple days I want to code in surfaces, but before I make such a big change to game play I really think I should get a recording of the game in its current state. Besides, that demo is pretty much 2 months over due, so yeah.
That concludes the posting for tonight. Be sure to stop by and listen to podcast episode 38, which demonstrates RS Games, and is as usual packed with mine and Danny’s twisted sense of humor. Please, listen to it. It took us 3 attempts to record that thing!

Living In a Yard

Hey guys,
Steve here.
First of all, I want to tell you that though it says “you” a lot, this poem is not aimed at any individual or group of people. It’s just a work of humor, and no offense is intended.
I was extremely bored when I wrote this, although I’ve had the idea as a small outcast in my mind for some time. However, I couldn’t figure out how to get it into a poem, until about 15 minutes before I went to bed last night. It required some revisions, though. 😛
Nonetheless, have fun reading. I hope this makes you laugh!
How does it feel,
to live in a yard?
To stare at a house,
from which you are barred?
To feel like a mouse,
who’s dignity is scarred,
because alas,
you live in a yard?
Does it make you frown,
To be torn and scarred?
or to sleep on a ground,
that is cold and hard?
To look filthy brown,
Your body marred,
To come to a town,
and live in a yard?
There are many a home,
close and far.
to which you could go,
by foot or car.
So don’t you know,
that it is quite bizarre,
that the home you chose,
was my front yard?
There you go. As you could see, it was more humor than anything else. However, should some one randomly decide that your front yard makes a good home, then this is something you can say to them. However, since such a behavior would be highly unusual, and most people would rather stay in a house than the associated yard, I don’t believe you’ll ever have to use this.
Anyways,
Happy Monday! I’ll post an actual update in the coming days, just needed to get this little poem out.
Thanks for reading,
type you later,
Steve.

what’s happenin’

Hello guys, I am having a good night. it hasn’t been long since I posted my how my day went journal entery, but I just wanted to chat. So, I’ve been addicted to the game River Raders by x sight interactive, and cannot stop playing it. There is one problem though, and it is that the game gives me headaches occasionally. Yeah, those aren’t the best things that have ever happened to me, aspecially when it is just my sister and I at home alone. But, I have also had a cough lately, that I am starting to get over. This is a big reliefe, because the coughs I’ve been having were preety painful.
Thirdly, I’ve still been writing, working out, and spending the rest of my time doing purely nothing. For the last few nights, I’ve gone to bed early, and awakened early the next morning. This isn’t usual for me, but its been going on since last Wednesday, the day of the bike ride. Yeah, it was just one day, but I’ve still been using that as an excuse to my sister, who thinks its strange that I go to sleep and wake up so early.
If you’re wondering about Bell (I call her Blue Bell) she is doing good. Besides the fact that there isn’t one day where I don’t get a fresh cut or 2 (or 3, 4, even 5 some time,) she is still a cute cat.

how my day went

today, I got up. Then, me, my dad, my mom, my sister, and her friend went to the lake for a few hours. When we got back, I spent the rest of the afternoon working on my room (putting temperary curtins on my window, and then taking a nap because Libby and her friend went to her friend’s house. When the left, and I got up from my nap, me and my parents ran a few arrends before eating dinner. That is all I did today.

a new game idea that I created: random numbers

Hey guys, this is Steven, and I have been thinking about a new game idea, and tada, I came up with one. This game is called random numbers, and it is farely simple to play.
here are the instructions to make this game.
First, you will grab 22 small pieces of paper or index cards, and write 1-10 on each.
example:
card1 you would write: 1
card2: 2
card 3:3
etc.
On 10 of the other 12, you will write 1-10 again just like shown above.
On the 11th card, you will write:
15-wild card!
on the 12th card, you will write:
haha, you got nothing!
—————-
playing the game:

In order to play this game, you must put all the paper in a bag and shake it up.
Next, you must close your eyes and draw out 11 of the 22 cards. Your opponent will have to keep his or her eyes closed also.
Next, this step must be repeted but with the opponent drawing the other eleven cards.
Now, you both must add up all of your numbers. If you got the “Haha, you got nothing!” card, then you better hope you got a lot of 9’s and 10’s. If you got the “15-wild card!” you have a 15 point advantage over your opponent unless he or she gets a greater value in 9’s, 10’s, 8’s, etc. Note, that just because you have the wild card, doesn’t mean you win.——————–
Thanks for reading this post, and you can get more at http://www.sssjournal.wordpress.com.
I hope you enjoy playing this game
