All is well

Hey you guys,
Steve here.

It’s november first, which means the start of a new month. It means cooler weather, rainy days, and a time change. It also means thanks givving, and the last month before Christmas.

Best of all, it means yet another exciting month to blog in. Who knows what exciting things might happen; where I’ll go, or what I’ll do.

I have several things I want to get done in the next month. Here they are:

1. do the four podcast episode I was and am supposed to do. The one from the first and third Saturday of last month, and also the ones for this month.
2. Start working on Stranded part iii. I want to make this one really long and somewhat dificult, it being the last book in the Stranded series. Though I hope to get it completed this month, I will not release it until Christmas, just to give you something more to look forward to during the holidays.
3. Programming. I want to get BGT learned and down the drain. I am thinking about restarting the manual, and writing some form of notes page so that I will fully remember. God, I wish there was some sort of BGT quiz I could take at the end to make sure I know it all.
Wait a sec, what kind of teenager wants a quiz? 🙂
I also want to learn HTML, and a text adventure (like stranded) programming language called Tads 3.
4. Come up with some form of Christmas list. I can’t think of anything I want, at least for now, to save my life!!! I’d better get to thinking; Christmas draws closer each day.
5. Correct orchestra problems. I can’t perform a streight bow for anything. I’m working on it though, and have made lots of progress since I started bowings.
6. Fix my computer problems once and for all. My computer at home is running smoothely most of the time now, but there are still errors (according to the action center) that I need to fix. I! need! to! fix! them!
Sorry if that sounded mad… it wasn’t meant that way. Those exclamation marks were just there for emphasis.
7. Celebrate my cat’s birthday. My cat, who is turning 9, has a birthday on probably the oddest day of the year. His birthday is on 11/12/13… the second to last consecutive day in the 21st centry!
By the way, if anyone’s tenth birthday is that day, you’re very… how do I put it… rare I guess. Who turns 10 on 11/12/13?
8. Beat probably the hardest game for the blind ever invented on Earth and beyond. It’s called AAC, (adventure at c:), and is a strategy side scroller. This will be demoed on Episode 13 of the podcast. By the way, I probably exagerated a bit when I said how hard it was, but it’s still very hard to beat.
Well I guess that’s about it for my november to-do list. I can’t think about anything else… except:
9. be chill.

I just put that there to add a 9th thing.

Well instead of repeting myself and talking about my orchestra concert and that family get together I said were going to happen, I think I will just give a quick life update before I go.

Wednesday and Thursday were good days. For some reason, I don’t know how that happened, I was in a good mood two, if not three days in a row (I’m counting today). I guess that’s do to the fact that Wednesday was thunderstorms (my favorite weather), Thursday was haloween and my mother’s cousin came down to visit, and that today is Friday.
Finally, tomorrow, since I don’t have goal ball practice , I get to sleep late in the morning, and stay up reasonably late tonight.
Who knows, I might even get to start on Stranded or learning that programming language!

Thanks for reading,
type you later,
Steve.

news about the files

Hey you guys,
Steve again.

I have some bad news, and some good news as well.

I think so as not to ruin your mood, I will end the post with the good news… so you know what that means. Here’s the bad news:

My files have been deleted off of file den because of a critical failure with their host. Can you believe that? Hey… at least there will be no more monthly charges for the premium plan and I will get a refund for the month of july.

Good news:

I am in the process of getting all my files back. I won’t be able to do it all this week because I’m on vacation… however it’ll be done by the end of August. Stranded part 1 and 2 will be put back on the gamebooks page for sure, and I will definately round up as many audio game reviews and demos as I can. Unfortunately, the cat recording I had on the animals page is gone, but I have a better one of nothing but him purring on my phone that I will upload to drop box and replace the old one. As far as software goes, I have lost that as well, but since I am learning programming at this time, expect more. The jenga.mp3 file I have is on my other computer, and the bouncy ball recording is still there becuse wordpress hosted it for me. So, what I’m saying here is that all (or most) of my files will be saved, and back up by late August.

In other news, I am on vacation right now in Maine, as I said I would be. I come back on Tuesday, and look forward to blogging about it.

Thanks for reading,

It’s my birthday!

Hey you guys,
severestormsteve again.

I can’t believe that it’s already that day again–my birthday. This year has been quite a long one, however I can’t believe it’s already over.
There is one flaw about birthdays–they come and go so fast! Well, at least I can be glad that mine is still here today, you think?
So, my party turned out to be a blast this Saturday. We had one of my friends from Goalball practice come home and get ready for the party with us, and me, my dad, and that friend went to pick another one of my friends from his house on the way over there. My goalball friend is named Devon, and the friend we picked up is named Joseph. Both of them are quite small, in sharp contrast to my five foot four inch 128 pound frame.

Anyway, my mom went in a seperate vehicle, bringing Libby along with her. On top of that, my 2 cousins Thomas and Colbie, my nanna, and my other nanna and papa, and someone else from the goalball team named Criston.
At the party, we started off with bowling. Birthday luck or just great skill, I creamed the people at my party in the first game, however tied with someone (I can’t remember) with 122 points. After having a blast bowling, it was time for gocarts. Joseph was so crazy, they had to stop his car early. My dad made me dizzy with his crazy yet fun driving habbits.
That unfortunately lasted a short time, however was real fun. After those gocarts, it was time to play in the archade. I played the wheel of fortune spinner, and only made 40 tickets when I could of won 1000. It was still worth it though. Finally, it was the time to turn in tickets. With my 214 tickets, I baught a bouncey ball along with one of those caps where you turn it inside out, set it down, and it pops into the air as it goes right side out. It is a huge one too, so will probably pop real high. I haven’t tried it by the way.
After going to that blast of a birthday party, we left about 45 minutes after the actual party ended. So, it ended up being a 3 hour party instead of 2 and a half. Well, after dropping my friends off Libby had Criston come over, and we watched pitch purfect. By the way, I got an Iphone 4 (see bottom of the post for complete list of presents), so I played with that while watching the movie.

Now, moving to yesterday. Did all of you people have a good Steve Eve? I hope so. But, I hope you have an even better Steve Day. By the way, that is today in case you forgot.
On steve eve, I was given my sertificate for the National Junior Honor Society, or NJHS for short. I guess that makes it official that I am now part of that organisation!
Last night, I was awake until about 10:15 playing my games, before falling asleep quicker than I thought I would. I did however wake up at 6:00 this morning to my mom getting ready for work, and spent the next hour playing my game and dosing off.
So far today has been good. I had an awesome breakfast, and got confetti poppers and rocket balloons. My vision teacher also brought me some donuts and sossage rolls for a treet at school this morning at school. I also had a filling lunch, and the whole 7th period class sung happy birthday to me at 3:01, the time I was born.
After school, I hung out with my sister, because there wasn’t much else to do. I also played with my phone, and relaxed. On her way home from work, my mom brought me a java chiller, which I drank greatfully before spending the rest of the night relaxing and not doing much of anything.

Well, what a day, and what a weekend. It seems that the last 4 days have been my birthday. Well, it’s sad to say that the excitement is winding down, however we only have 2 more days of school. So, I hope you’ve enjoyed your day, and have a good tomorrow.

Thanks,
type you later,
Steve.

good news and a new release

Hello you guys,
There are some things I have to talk about, seen as how I haven’t blogged in 3 days.
I was walking down to PE class, it was one of those normal mornings. There wasn’t much on my mind, it was just the usual excited feeling about getting to listen to my iPod or get on the computer the whole PE class, the stress of having to go to social studies and Tech, and the relief that it was Friday. Everything was normal, that is until my sister’s 7th grade english teacher came up to me. Keep in mind, Libby is a 9th grader now, so I usually never even saw her english teacher. I never even met the teacher when Libby was in her class, because I was in elementary school. Well, she walks up and tells me the following news:

Hey Steven,
this is MS Roland, your syster’s 7th grade english teacher. I was working in the library with MS Seltzer grading the star practice writing papers, and she says your’s is really good. She says that she is going to use this as an example for other kids, and that how you wrote your paper is how all the kids should.

By the way, MS Seltzer is my current english teacher.
I was astonished at the thought that my paper could’ve been so good! I’d barely spent any time and effort on it, because I was ready to end this dang test. In fact, I spent 35 minutes on that paper, and the teacher I’d tested with wasn’t satisfied because I’d not spent even an hour on it. Well, apparently it turned out good enough anyway. All I can say is that made me feel honored.

Now, on to the release.

There is a gamebook that I am going to put on my gamebooks page. This game will be released in 3 parts, and the first game will come out on March 3rd. Here is a summary.

You are on your fishing boat, your dog Teto is calmly sleeping behind you. You are focused on your work, indulgent upon catching probably the biggest fish you’d ever seen. All of a sudden, the sun stops beating on your back, and Teto starts to howl. You turn around, and see that a storm is moving in.

All of a sudden, the wind starts blowing, so you get out your life raft, and a belt to tie Teto down just in case. Unfortunately, you are unprepared for the shocking yet suttle turn of events that follow. All of a sudden, the storm moves in without warning, capsizing your boat and causing Teto to fall away from you. All you can do now, is hop on your life raft.

That is what you do. You sit there, battling the extreem force of the horendous storm as it batters your small frame, and throws the liferaft around murcilessly.

Finally, the storm stops, leaving in its wake a beautiful sunset. There are 3 problems:
1. Teto is gone.
2. You are trapped in the middle of a raging river.
3. Your body is extremely sour.

All you can do now, is let the current cary you. It eventually carys you to an island, where you must now find your way to the trap door in the clearing.

This game has several omonous traps involved, ones that might be hard to avoid. Don’t get mad at me or your computer, and just realise that you will eventually win the game.

Note that I won’t be held accountable for damages inflicted to yourself or other valuable property. This is the consiquence of your ratical temper, thus I won’t be the one who fixes any of your stuff, or pays for it.

Also, If you cannot bare the thought of losing your dog, don’t get this game.
Hope you enjoy!

Once again, this game comes out on March 3rd! Happy playing!
