the passed five days of Steven D’s story of a life: goalball, school insidences, future events…

Hey you guys,
Steve here.

I’m finally back, after a rather unusually long absence. It just seems that lately, the days are going by so fast, five day periods like this one just come and go in the blink of an eye. I just don’t get it.
Anyway, to keep this post a little bit short, I’ll tell you what you need to know.
As for my life, that has been going great since I last updated you. I have been attending school, working on stranded, chilling, and goal balling. I don’t know if I told you this or not, but I set myself a goal on stranded. If I told you this on Wednesday, you can either read this again because you enjoy my blog posts, or you can skip ahead a couple lines.
My goal for this game is that I will work on it at least once every day. I don’t care if it’s one page; even one sentence will do. But I really have to do this; because if I don’t, I could lose motivation to work on any further developments or forget about the project all together. I’m sure that both you and I don’t want any of that to happen.
Back to my life, there is some stuff that will be going on in my life in the near future. On Wednesday, if I have a ride home, I will be going after school to do a service project for NJHS, which if you recall back in march I joined the day before my birthday. NJHS, or National Junior honor Society (for those who don’t know), is something that if you keep good grades, and manage to make it in there in the first place will look good on your college applications. Anyway, that will get me one service hour (we have to have 10 and oh crap I don’t have one 🙁 ).
With that being said, I also have another Orchestra concert coming up on December third. But since that’s far away, and we have a break in between now and then, I will not talk much about it in this blog post.
Also while we’re on the subject of school, I got a big scare in Spanish class last week. For some reason, my report card said I got a 73. As you know, I’m not the kind of student who would score such a tremendously poor (in my book) score, so I was a bit worried. Turns out, I was worried for nothing. My grade in there is a 90. I don’t know if the grades got mixed up or what, but I’m just glad I have a better grade than previously thought.
Next Tuesday (I can’t believe it), is the start of thanksgiving break. I can’t wait for that! Also note that three weeks after that is Christmas break.
As for weather, it is supposed to get really cold this weekend. This week will be in the 60’s with partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies for the next few days, but Thursday into Friday, a cold front will come in and oh boy. It’s supposed to fall into the upper 40’s Friday afternoon with strong winds and rain. What a nice day for some coco and a day of chilling… sucks I’ll have to be at school.
Saturday through Monday are also expected to be in the upper 40’s.
While we’re still on the topic of weather, two extraordinary weather events have taken place, that leave me just a tad bit worried. First it was tropical storm Haiyan that slammed into the Philippines. That killed around 4000 people is what they’re saying. Also last weekend there were 40 tornadoes in Illinois. That is highly unusual for both the state, and the month the tornadoes occurred in… hmm.
On a last note, the development process of Stranded Part Three is going well. I have put in an obstacle course, which contains an avoid-the-RPG board. This is like whack a mole, but the RPGS pop out and you have to dive and/or jump in a different direction to avoid them. I will not disclose any more information on this object; you’ll just have to wait.
As far as pod casting goes, I have done episode 13. My parents have taken the carpet out of my room (their redoing carpet upstairs), and all my stuff with it. Once I get settled again, I’ll record episodes 14 and 15.
Other than that, I don’t have much else to say except…

Thanks for reading,
type you later,
Steve.

P.s. I’ve grown addicted to this game Hogwarts Live for about the third time. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it on the blog before, but if I haven’t here’s the link:

I hope you enjoy both that game, and this post.

All is well

Hey you guys,
Steve here.

It’s november first, which means the start of a new month. It means cooler weather, rainy days, and a time change. It also means thanks givving, and the last month before Christmas.

Best of all, it means yet another exciting month to blog in. Who knows what exciting things might happen; where I’ll go, or what I’ll do.

I have several things I want to get done in the next month. Here they are:

1. do the four podcast episode I was and am supposed to do. The one from the first and third Saturday of last month, and also the ones for this month.
2. Start working on Stranded part iii. I want to make this one really long and somewhat dificult, it being the last book in the Stranded series. Though I hope to get it completed this month, I will not release it until Christmas, just to give you something more to look forward to during the holidays.
3. Programming. I want to get BGT learned and down the drain. I am thinking about restarting the manual, and writing some form of notes page so that I will fully remember. God, I wish there was some sort of BGT quiz I could take at the end to make sure I know it all.
Wait a sec, what kind of teenager wants a quiz? 🙂
I also want to learn HTML, and a text adventure (like stranded) programming language called Tads 3.
4. Come up with some form of Christmas list. I can’t think of anything I want, at least for now, to save my life!!! I’d better get to thinking; Christmas draws closer each day.
5. Correct orchestra problems. I can’t perform a streight bow for anything. I’m working on it though, and have made lots of progress since I started bowings.
6. Fix my computer problems once and for all. My computer at home is running smoothely most of the time now, but there are still errors (according to the action center) that I need to fix. I! need! to! fix! them!
Sorry if that sounded mad… it wasn’t meant that way. Those exclamation marks were just there for emphasis.
7. Celebrate my cat’s birthday. My cat, who is turning 9, has a birthday on probably the oddest day of the year. His birthday is on 11/12/13… the second to last consecutive day in the 21st centry!
By the way, if anyone’s tenth birthday is that day, you’re very… how do I put it… rare I guess. Who turns 10 on 11/12/13?
8. Beat probably the hardest game for the blind ever invented on Earth and beyond. It’s called AAC, (adventure at c:), and is a strategy side scroller. This will be demoed on Episode 13 of the podcast. By the way, I probably exagerated a bit when I said how hard it was, but it’s still very hard to beat.
Well I guess that’s about it for my november to-do list. I can’t think about anything else… except:
9. be chill.

I just put that there to add a 9th thing.

Well instead of repeting myself and talking about my orchestra concert and that family get together I said were going to happen, I think I will just give a quick life update before I go.

Wednesday and Thursday were good days. For some reason, I don’t know how that happened, I was in a good mood two, if not three days in a row (I’m counting today). I guess that’s do to the fact that Wednesday was thunderstorms (my favorite weather), Thursday was haloween and my mother’s cousin came down to visit, and that today is Friday.
Finally, tomorrow, since I don’t have goal ball practice , I get to sleep late in the morning, and stay up reasonably late tonight.
Who knows, I might even get to start on Stranded or learning that programming language!

Steve.

a wonderful Fall festival

Hey guys,
Steve here.
It’s the 700th post! I can’t believe that!!!

Today has been a good day. It has been busy, but none the less I have to say it was quite awesome. And as I sit here, propping my feet up on a chair and leaning back comfortably, I once again get to amerce myself into one of my favorite hobbies, blogging.
The day started out with goal ball. Me, being an extreme procrastinator, decided that I was just gonna sleep 45 minutes passed the time I was supposed to get up. So, basically, I didn’t even get to shower; and nor did I get to check my email as I do every morning if I can. It was a “throw on what you can, and shove whatever you can down your throat to keep from being hungry” type of morning.
Despite the rushed start, goal ball practice ended up going very well. I spent the first 30 minutes chunking ball after ball at the walls of the gym, and running after it. For some reason, probably do to the fact that only one other person showed up, the practice in itself wasn’t hard. It was quite repetitive actually; composed of my coaches (one of them being my dad of course) Chucking the ball at me and the other player and us blocking and throwing it back. So even though the activities that went on during practice weren’t in the least bit strenuous, I still ended up tired do to the fact that it was non-stop action for two hours streight.
After practice ended, I got to come home and chill for a few hours. I have a remote control robot, which is very old but high tech and fun to mess with none the less, but unfortunately the buttons on the remote aren’t in braille and nor is there a braille user manual. So, I had to write myself a kind of reference type of thing. I used a motified drawing board that actually turns drawings into raised line drawings so that blind people can feel them just as sited folks see them. Well anyway, I spent two hours outlining my robot’s remote and then typing the button lables into the remote picture, so that I would have them in braille and know exactly what they were called and where they were located on the remote.
Well besides that, after I was finished my dad and sister came home from the advansed goal ball practice, along with a couple of my sister’s friends (it being her birthday weekend and all), and we all went to the fall festival I mentioned on Thursday’s post.
There were several fun games. When we first walked in, there was a really amusing game, that also tasted good. In this game, you and your competitor get a doughnut on a string, and your goal is to see who can eat theirs first without using their hands. Mind you, the doughnut will swing around on the string, so it made it harder to get. I swear to you, that thing was flying around, bouncing off the back of my head and whacking me up side the face. Fortunately, though my sister won the game, I still got to enjoy that delicious doughnut.
After that, there were more games. One of which I had to play as David by throwing a Velcro ball and trying to stick it to the Velcro head of Goliath (I guess to simulate killing him)… and I didn’t get it but came close.
There is really only one other game I want to tell you about, the tick tack toe game I played with some one.
Origionally, nor me or my competitor won the first game, but the second game was different. I started by putting my O in the gop left, and she put her X in the bottom left. I then put my O in the middle of the grid, getting hopeful that I’d win. She really had the chance to stop me their, but of course wasn’t thinking, and decided to put her X in the bottom middle. So, I put mine in the bottom left and won. Now how crazy is that?
After all the games were finished, we had a dinner of corn dogs and stew. We then had a hey ride, and then had to go home before it started raining on us.
Well, unfortunately I’m afraid that I have to end this post because I’be told you all about the festival and frankly I’m starting to get tired :). So,

Thanks for reading,

Steve.

how my day went

Today, I got up very early because my mom and dad were at work. When I woke up, I just played with the kitties for a while, laid on the couch, then ate breakfast. I spent the rest of the morning playing on the computer, listening to my book, taking a shower, then getting ready for goalball. Then, I ate lunch, and hung out with my sister until my dad got home. Then, I just listened to my book until it was time for goalball. Me, Dad, and Libby went to goalball, had practice for 2 hours, then me and dad dropped libby off at her friend Madison’s house. Not to much later, I joined my sister and her friend at her house while my dad went home to lay down, and the treo of us ate some burgers and fries for dinner. Then, we spent the rest of the evening watching full house, before I posted my journal. That is all I did today.

how my day went

Today, I got up and went to school like normal. Then, I came home and got ready to go to Libby’s goalball game. When we got there, I just watched it, and it lasted about 35 minutes. After that, I came home and ate dinner. Then, I played on the computer.
That is how my day went.
Besides, I got the broken computer back today in second period.
